1972 powersteering question

Im currently building a 521 for my 1972 mustang mach 1. The car had a 351 and power steering from the factory, i do not wish to have power steering on my new set up. What are my options? Can i just not put a pump on it and manually steer it? Would that hurt anything? or do I need to convert to a rack and pinion steering assembly? Is there a donor vehicle that I could get parts from other than another mach 1?

From what I've read; you should be able to grab a manual box out of a same-year Torino or Montego. I'd start checking the autohouses for replacement gearboxes in "mid-size" Fords (and, of course, Mustangs) of that generation.

But, I have to ask, "Good God, man, why???"
I've had to muscle my Cougar around with the 351C not running (obviously no P/S); and it's a b^#$%! You want to do that with a hefty ol' 385 engine in there? Gonna have "Popeye arms" before too long.
