Well,..I'm still gonna drive the thing today,..but it's cold outside today. 46 degrees presently,....probably make it up to about 50 by the time I start the car and start driving. Why is that a problem then?....
Cause the engine won't get above 150 the whole way there...

The hoses pictured is how the water comes into this engine....I blocked the hard line return you see at the top of the head.
If the T stat is closed,...how is it that water temp isn't reaching 180 in the engine?

Lets talk about this then,..cause my gears are starting to turn here...

When you start this thing, it starts at X temp (whatever is ambient) and it progressively gets hotter as the engine runs while it sits still. If you allow it to continue and sit it'll get progressively hotter until it reaches 190 when the fans come on. The thing will then sit there and maintain a 190 degree running temp.

That all changes when you start driving.

As soon as air is moving through the radiator the temp falls. It stays at around 150-160 while driving...

Why is this?

Now both temp senders (the one for the ECU, and the one for the gauge are located w/i an inch of each other right on the front of the head, and the water inlet that you see it the pic above comes into the block right below those senders..If the pump is running and the water is stopped from flowing because the T stat is closed,...how is any cool water getting in here?..

Why can't I figure this out?

Try the redneck thermostat? block the radiator core with a piece of cardboard..
does your electric water pump run all the time?
Can you reduce down the hose coming from the thermostat so it cycles slower?

Well,.........milestone.

18 of them matter of fact.

There's the Lonely domestic Monster,..sitting in a sea of snobbish German cars....They made him sit at the back of the class.

Went w/o incident. I datalogged the event...It runs at 150...I'm watching the T stat open,..engine temp drops to like 147 then goes right back and locks at 150. I checked that T stat in a pot of hot water, and it opened at 180.

I haven't looked at the thing as I'm at work, and this is a cruise DL as it is...The only thing that needs addressing is that it's too fat at cruise...it runs dead steady at 13.5:1 at cruise,...wanna change that up to about 15..
There is boost in this at the end,..I watched the gauge,..It is where I think it needs to be save for the cruise..

Cool beans? After a couple of years and beers, I can't remember...do you have an electric water pump? ALthough I guess that's not the real question since it reaches temp at a standstill but not when moving. You must have water bypassing somewhere is my only thought. Well, I am also thinking what the hell do the uppity German car salespeople think when the 'Genius' pulls up in the Great Pumkin that sounds like a combine? (when it's not on boost doing work!)

Interesting that you asked.

Both service managers are working on it. Notice the Robin-aire sitting in front. The monster now has AC!

All 15 of the techs were crawling around it at any one time. It was in that bay for a little over an hour while we evacuated,..waited,...and then charged the system. All of those AC hoses,..All of those connections,...and zero leaks.
Best part is that it was also zero dollars.

It's a good day in Birmingham.

Before i can use it, I'll have to wire the A/C system into my fans somehow,..I need the airflow over the condenser while it sits...but it gets really cold out of those three vents,..hopefully it'll work better than the rear mounted version that was in the red car.

I manipulated the tune,...I added 3 degrees of timing to the affected cruise cells,..and subtracted 10% fuel from the same areas in the VE table...I now have a hole in one of my 3D tuning maps,..and a hill in the other..
I guess we'll see how the datalog looks when I get home tonight.

Damn, the stance on the Monster is perfect. That is how a Fox body should sit. Did it pick up a German accent sitting that close to all Zee Germans?

Is it normal that most of the conversations round make no sense? I is confused unless there is technical talk.
