I’m about to install my headline in my 78 king cobra. I just finished the headliner in my 71 Mach 1. My back windows I took out so it’s going to help secure it on that one along with the glue. I read in a restoration manual that if you’re able to do that in a car that’s best but if not you use your glue and you tuck it into whatever trim piece is there. I assume that’s what I’ll be doing on this one. For the front and the sides after I put on the trim I just use my razor blade to cut off the excess head liner. I’ll be curious to know how your install goes. Pictures too if possible. I’ll do the same when mine gets installed. I also upholstered my seats on my own. Once I took them apart it was easy putting them together and not really that expensive besides the rare chamois seat vinyl I got from classicautoreproductions I got the foam filler from Amazon and the glue, the special pliers and staples . It took about 2 rolls of the foam padding. I also did my carpet myself. I bet I saved about 1500 doing it myself. Plus doing the same for my Mach 1. Saved a lot of money and it’s looking great. I am working through the restoration process and am a bit confused on the headliner installation. I have all of the trim that goes around the sides and front of the headliner but in the rear of the car I don't see how it attaches? I know there is a gasket that goes around the rear hatch opening, but how does the headliner attach? Does it just get glued under the weatherstrip? Thanks for any help or pics.
