Sigh,
You do NOT adjust the TPS!!!!!!!!
PLEASE STOP SPREADING THAT RICER BS MYTH!
The '86 *uppers* were unique. They were tuned more for the low-end and mid-range. In other words, they were tuned more for
REAL WORLD DRIVING! But, real world driving power doesn't sell cars like better qtr mile times. So, the 87-93 uppers were tuned more for mid-range and high-end. Also, the E6 heads, which again are better for
real world driving, were replaced by the truck E7 heads. Again, to get better qtr mile times.
That's why a stock '86 5.0 is FASTER in the 1/8th mile, from a dead stop, and in the street were you can't "light up the tires".
So, the "massive" gains that the 87+ upper will give are mainly BS. You'll see around 5+ HP above 3K rpms. As I've said MANY times, if someone is going over 3K rpms on the road, they don't
have a clue on how to drive!
Uhm, I did switch to the 87+ upper and then to the Explorer intake. Yea, I gave up low-end and mid-range power. BFD, the 5.0 has plenty as it is.

But, my point is that the "massive gains" that people often claim are as PURE BS as "adjusting the TPS".
