Just got my 89 hatch back on the road and have an issue. Gassed it up and went 1,2,3,and no 4. Wouldn't go in. I jammed it back in third and got down the road a bit but I pulled over and got a tow. So it'll start if it's in neutral no problem but it won't got into gear. Try and start it in first with the clutch to the floor and it creeps ahead on the starter motor. There's about half the clutch effort that there used to be. I pulled the cover off the side of the bellhousing and the cable is pulling on the clutch fork when you step on the clutch. Under the dash the cable is in the quadrant. Car has the motorsport blue aluminum quadrant with firewall adjuster, stock ford clutch cable, centerforce dual friction clutch and pressure plate, Ford billet steel flywheel, and z-spec T-5. The T-5 is really new (under 20 000 miles), the centerforce might have twice that on it. Car isn't super powerful; dynos about 300hp and 300ft/lbs at the tires. Mostly all street; maybe 20 dragstrip passes on the setup; about 2.0 in the first 60 feet so no hard hitter. The big thing is no clutch pedal effort, it's at least half the effort it was before and it isn't disengaging the system when you step on the pedal. My firewall adjuster is out a ways; like at least an inch of thread showing. Is that the end of my centerforce clutch? Never a hint of burnt clutch smell, always grabbed too hard to slip it much. No noticeable clutch slip at speed but I haven't been using the car much. Any chance something slipped out of place or came loose? The clutch pedal effort is from the pressure plate right? Could it be loose?
