Had some great guidance on here as I top and tail my 1990 GT convertible here in the UK - thank you.
So Headlights....the stock ones are looking tired. Have looked at what's available on CJ Pony parts but wondering if there are other places to buy street legal options (that aren't smoke glass)?

Everyone has an opinion, here's mine I went one piece housings , h.i.d.headlights,l.e.d. turn signals and marker lights.

I bought the LMR ones about 5-6 years ago. From what i understand they are made differently these days. I don't think there are many vendors for these so all the OE-style ones you see are likely made by the same shop, or same couple shops. I have the ones with the yellow sticker on them that says "don't touch". If oyu have a set you'll know what i mean.

I do have a set of OEM NOS headlights in box. Don't want to use them, but can't bring myself to sell them. I did open the box and compare to the LMR repops and they were pretty darn close. Now, in terms of longevity and materials? I mean these headlights have been on my car for 7-8 years now and still look new....but my car also spends 99.999% of the time in the garage. Can't comment on leaks either as i only take it out when it's sunny. But my point is for my needs and cost, i can probably buy 20 sets of repop headlights and nobody will tell the difference between them and my OE NOS lights.

Edit: i also don't drive the car at night, so something i've never really been able to compare

Where I worry more about repros is the quality of light they put out at night. I had a couple sets, they were both crap. I cleaned and polished my originals I had in a box and they came out pretty good for a total of like $15.

The repops are fine IMO if they have a DOT tag on them
Have not replaced any lately though
I replace them and don't mess with buffing the old plastic to a temporary shine
Rubbing the old lanolin hand cleaner on the old plastic works as well as buffing them
Wondering if the HID's you put in yours still work nickyb? Or have you had to replace them a few times?

Still going strong and its been a bunch of years. I looked on Amazon and can't find the brand I bought ( Kensun) but I haven't had any problems at all.
