I have a 1990 LX 5.0, and am looking to upgrade my 2 1/4 in. exhaust throughout. When I got under it, I see that my mufflers are 2 1/2 in. Flowmasters. Are these stock? And if so, what are they, two chamber, etc?
Anyone know?

Thanks

If they're 2 1/2 inch, they're not stock.
As for which muffler you've got, you're going to have to break out the tape measure. 2-chambers will have a 13' long case and 3-chambers will have a 17' long case.

HAHA...yea stock size is 2.25" and anything that is a flowmaster is not stock. You can also tell just from the shape of the muffler. flowmasters are more square looking than the stock muffs which are more of a conventional oval shape. good luck man!

I guess I would have known it wasnt stock when I saw the word Flowmaster on it, but thats just me. Is the whole exhaust 2.5 inch or did they just slap 2.5 inch flows on 2.25 inch pipes. If its the ladder then its ghetto and it has to go.

Yeah, it's ghetto. 2 1/4 throughout, except the 2 1/2 flows. And they are welded to the tailpipes and h-pipe. I am going to cut them right behind the welds. I already have mac 1 5/8 long tubes, and Dr. Gas X-pipe, both 2 1/2, so I am going to use these, as I figure they are the two chamber I wanted. I was just about to buy some too. Can't say enough for inspecting your setup before you buy something new for it. All I need now is 2 1/2 Tailpipes. Thanks for the replies!

Mac sells theirs as a bolt on that attach right over the axle. So you can buy them separate. I've got a Mac System on mine. They're 5 years old now and are finally just starting to show a little rust. But they were very reasonably priced. :nice:
