My 1990 LX (7-up) driver door window will not adjust properly. I have replaced the lower bushing on the guide bar but the top Bakelite type riveted bushing is where all the slop is on “for and” aft” rock. Help?
I found that replacing both plastic guide bushings took care of the rocking. Then it was a matter of adjusting the rear upper guide for in and out control.
I replaced the lower and my top bar looks nothing like the pic. It has a brown Bakelite looking material that has for rivets in it. It is adjustable but provides way to much slop. I read in a LMR description of the rectangular bushing that convertible only has one. Right, it only has one but what do you do about that “riveted” thing that appears to be some form of a bushing. I wish I had taken a photo before putting it back together.
On mine, the top bracket has a sliding “bushing” that controls rocking fore and aft, the bottom adjustment is a bracket very similar which has a replaceable plastic bushing and controls in and out tilt. The top one has all the slop and I don’t see a way to install a bushing like the rectangular one on the bottom bracket. I think maybe tomorrow i’ll Take it apart again and take some pics. I drove it today and can’t handle the wind noise. This is my fourth fox body but never fooled with windows, they were too new at the time. A new 86 LX 5,0 5 spd conv, 86 GT AOD T top, 87 LX 5.0 5 spd, conv and now the 90 LX 5.0 AOD conv (7-up). I also once had a 63 Falcon which I installed a 93 5.0 HO with a C-4.
