Strahan wont come out of retirement so you can put that little glimmer of hope out.

You know its never good when they cant walk off the field them selves but I didn't even expect him to be gone for the year. Not looking good for the Giants and the season has not even started. Their #1 defensive player is GOOOOOOONNNNNEEEEEEE

Replace BOLDED with Bledsoe/Pats and offensive.

My take on the Brady injury and seeing him out for the season:

Well, the worst of it all is that I'm in one FFL. Guess who is my starting QB? Yup. Now I'm counting on Rivers.

The Pats offense was designed around Brady. I would expect the overall offensive output to be severly diminished. Pats, like many teams, do not have a good backup QB. Maroney will have to step up and take a bit more of the workload no matter who ends up back there.

The Pats excellent D has not been effected so I expect that aspect to remain good.

This will probably put the Pats out of mythology and into the catagory of "a good team." Make no mistake, Belichick is a good HC and he can and will adjust. IMO, even with Brady out, the Pats will remain the team to beat in the AFC East but they may find themselves in a battle for their division title with the Jets and Bills having improved a lot.

I think this is the year of the injury to major players in week 1.

Pats obvioulsy lost Brady maybe all season
Titans lose Vince Young for at least 3-4 weeks with an MCL issue
Marion Barber left the game hurt
The Colts lost both Dallas Clark and Joe Addai to injuries that made them leave the game.

This is the worst part about the NFL. A team could do everything right- have great players/coaches/drafts/cap management and still be a few injuries away from a lost season.

One of the most important things for a team to have is good depth. That is VERY hard to manage in a salary cap league. Sometimes at the end of a season, it all depends on what team is the healthiest. Suprisingly, the Cows have avoided major injuries for 3 years in a row. (Not that they do anything with that... )

I mean it seems some people forget the Pats are a championship caliber team. Brady is not the entire team. The team will need to step up, but i still think they will be a force in the AFC. They also have the easiest schedule in the NFL so that is on there side too.

However, it looks like powers in the AFC could be shifting a bit. Its too early to tell but some tried and true AFC teams that made the AFC OMG the best in the NFL didn't have a fantastic opening weekend. Again, based on first game - long season still ahead!

Right there is defiantly going to help out the Pats. They should still be a contender but I don't think they will be a dominate with out Brady

That was based on last season's statistics where the Pats had 6 "gimmie" games.
Since the Jets and Bills have really made a good effort to improve (Fins did too) i doubt that the schedual will be as easy as 1st thought.

I'm going to guess the Pats still win 11 regular season games.

Let's go steelers

Well, provided that Rofflesburger doesn't get injured again.

If they stay healthy judging from week 1 they are my favorite in the AFC now. I still think San Diego is the best AFC team talent wise but they laid an egg just like the Colts. Maybe not as bad as the Colts but a L is still an L.

I think the Pats can still maintain a division-winning level of play with their defense and all of the offensive weapons/line they have. They can shape the offensive game around Cassell's strengths and will continue to grind out every game from here on out. I think Maroney and Morris will really pick up the slack as well. I still think they can win 10-12 games and win their division. It will be really close, but I think they can pull it out.

My pick for the SB now after watching week 1, Steelers vs Eagles.

You really think the Steelers N Eagles?

I was thinking (now this is based solely on week 1 ONLY) was Steelers vs Cowboys

Well, it's a tough call between the Eagles and Cowboys. I just think the Eagles can edge out the Cows to win the division and get to the SB. The only way the Eagles go is if McNabb stays healthy; if he does, then they're going to be really hard to beat. I can't wait til Monday night next week for Eagles/Cowboys, that will give us a really good idea on which one it might be

The Steelers look really good and have a ton of talent, they'll be a tough game for anyone. The Chargers just don't look like a SB-contending team to me and I always thought that. I was thinking Colts or Steelers, but I think the Steelers might have the upper-hand this year, just a gut feeling.. if they don't do it this year, then it might be a few more years for them to have another strong shot, imo.

steelers; cowboys; eagles....
how can any predictions be made after week #1?

Who'd the Steelers dominate? The Texans?

Eagles....the Rams.

no real "stellar" teams there...lets wait until week 5 or so to give superbowl predictions!

Come on guys, the Steelers beat the Texans. Hardly a team that I would consider a "contending" team. They did look good, don't get me wrong, but to say there one on the top teams to beat after beating the texans? Really?

Let's see how they do up to there bye week, then we can talk.
