Here is my take on it. Ben has won 1 superbowl along w/ Eli. Ben has had a much accomplished career to this point compared to Eli As the stats posted) Very many lucky things happened that game for the giants, like the ball caught on the side of the helmet, not exactly the thing you rely on to pull you out of a third and long situation. The TD catch by burress was a high pass if it was not for his hight any other reciever may not have caught it. All season long and for awhile eli has had a nagging problem of throwing high passes, anyone that disdisagrees me watch any game from last season. Eli's successs has been a product of who has been catching balls for him. You can say the same as far as Brady/Moss but Brady had 3 SB rings before Moss even came along. If you take out Moss would the Patriots sill have gone 16-0???? Take out Buress you really think the Giants would have even touched the Superbowl??

I would not use SB42 as a reason to call eli clutch.. Sorry gnat fans I take Ben any day in fact after the big two he would be my third choice.

Think I am lying about the hall go look up broadway joe.. he rode well below average numbers into the hall on one game that all he managed to do was not blow it..

I have seen all of Eli's games. I know what he is capable of. You haven't. That is why I would only trade him for 2 current QB's. End of story.

As I said earlier that was the luckiest crap I ever seen in my life. it was more of what the pats did wrong, luck and poor non calls ( sorry mr. vax you can go into denial but it's true) that won that game.. they had eli flustered and throwing bad passes, they just did not pick them.
.....

No sports announcers or sportswriters or fans of other teams agree with you. (Maybe a foolish SN poster or 2.) You are just a very sore loser. Waaaah. Waaaa. Calls went both ways. If there was actually a REAL game changing bad call, it would have been all over ESPN and repeated all the time on the NFL network, just like when the Pats were caught and fined for cheating.

Unless you can pull quotes from unbiased football sources agreeing with you, you are basically talking out of your ass again! The Giants beat the Pats, they had their number and damn near beat them in week 17. Deal with it.

Ahhh trash talking in the good ol NFL thread.. The season hasn't even begun yet!!

I love this thread and football season!!!!!!!

Oh, it's the best.
No sport in the world including zzzzzzz (soccer) can come near the NFL.
And how sweet it is when your favorite team wins the Superbowl.

Did you know the NY Giants are the only team to ever win Superbowls in 3 consecutive decades?
80's/90's/00's.

Anyone remember this beauty?

Third and long, catch the ball on the side of the helmet thats what gave them the win. Im not saying "bad call" Gave the Giants the W, Im saying lady luck was on their side line that night.

Every team has luck or so so calls. IE... Brady's tuck rule which lead to SB #1 and Vinatair's game kicking field goals, yes he's good, yes he got lucky to.

18-0 is luck. 18-1 is reality.

They pulled out of more then one game in the 4th quarter where they were behind and won...Eagles, Ravens for example. That's gone back for the past previous seasons, its called knowing how to win and doing what must be done to win. No it does not always work out that way but it was not all "luck" that they came back from many games and won and more then once last season to go 16-0. Luck is catching a ball on the side of your helmet and not having it hit the ground or fall off the side of the helmet. Being lucky is having a very tall receiver on your roster matched with a QB that has a perpetual problem of throwing high balls.

I'm jerkin' your gerkin. The Pats were a fantastic team last year. However, the Giants matched up very well with them. Their last 5 games were really something.
Coughlin's decision to have the team play the Pats in week 17 at full throttle instead of mailing it in (nothing to play for) was a genius move.

Not having Shockey in the lineup may have even helped Eli. He played great. Spag's D was terrific. If you watched the Giants 4 playoff games, you will see a team that refused to lose.

To me, the better the Pats were, the better was the Giants victory in the Superbowl. I know the Pats will be right there this year and I have every reason to believe that the Giants will be too. And the Colts/Cows/Steelers/Vikes?

Shockey was a cancer on the team.
