How about Rogers?

To early to tell really. I guess Tavaris Jackson is off the list, huh?

They left both off the list, I guess because they don't have enough experience under their belt and don't have enough success. Tavaris' best season was a 9-win season, he still has a ways to go to mature as a QB.

Hes a bust, second string at best.

If he can get the proper teaching and technique from a veteran, then he could be pretty good. He just needs to sit for a while and learn the game more and work on his throwing accuracy.

Interesting thing on ESPN's website.. talking about who will be the next Brady-Manning QB dual in the NFL after those two are gone. Talks about 5 of the top younger QB's playing right now that will take their place as the top QB's in the game after Brady/Peyton retire.

I ranked my top 5 this way:
1.) Roethlisberger
2.) Eli Manning
3.) Rivers
4.) Romo
5.) Cutler

Rivers and Romo could be swapped, but I think Romo makes too many stupid mistakes for my taste. (Fumbles, picks, etc).

How would you guys rank them?

Actually I agree with ESPN's list, which is one of the few times you'll hear me say that.

1. Tony Romo
2. Jay Cutler
3. Ben Roethlisberger
4. Aaron Rodgers
5. Eli Manning
6. Philip Rivers
7. Matt Ryan

Romo is awfully talented with a great supporting cast and playoff experience so I can understand why he got the nod. The guys on the ESPN podcast were talking about how Jay Cutler is a "special guy" and a prototypical quarterback which I think everyone can agree with. I think Aaron Rodgers will surprise alot of people too.

As for Big Ben, Manning and Rivers, they are good young quarterbacks but I think they've pretty much peaked. I doubt we'll see any significant progression in their play during their careers. Romo, Cutler and Rodgers still haven't hit their ceiling yet.

I dont think you can put Rivers and Roth in as young QB's. Like 5.0 said they have peaked as far as how good they will be and I dont see them vastly improving upon what we have already seen, they may have up and down years but everyone else on the list has made mistakes or wilo make them and have much to learn. I dont see how you can list Roth as an up and coming QB for someone who has multiple years of experience and has gone to and won a Superbowl. His age range may be the same as the others but his experience is years ahead.

You? Agreeing with me? They must be playing hockey in hell right now. :rlaugh:

Seriously, I dunno why ESPN put those guys on the list, maybe it was just lack of better options?

I dont disagree w/ you on everything, just your one game analysis of the Bronco's and Cutler. I talked the hell out of Brady the past few years but hes been winning superbowls and throwing 50 TD's in a season.

How can you say you agree with it and list something completly different? Their list was as follows:

Roethlisberger
Manning
Cutler
Romo
Rivers

ESPN - Big Ben the NFL's heir apparent to Brady and Manning - NFL

1) The article was about young QBs taking off where Brady and Manning will leave off. Not "up and coming".

2) Using your logic how can you list Ben and Rivers and not Eli, they were all the same draft class.

3) Ben is the 3rd best QB in the league.

We most be talking abotu different articles. This is the one I was referring to.

ESPN - Fantasy Football: The best young quarterbacks in the game - Fantasy Football

Yours is about fantasy football. This is from your acticle:

Fantasy versus reality. It's a theme we often explore at ESPN. So when we were asked to rank the best young quarterbacks in the game, we had to ask: for fantasy, or for real?

Fantasy rankings aren't about wins and losses, playoff grit or championship rings. It's not about who makes whom better and whom you'd pick to start a brand-new NFL franchise.

They did two article's. One about who they would take for real, one about fantasy football.

Anyone up for predicting some of the big games this weekend? Along with their team's game, if it's not included.

I'll give it a shot.

Dolphins - 10
Patriots - 24

Eagles - 17
Steelers - 24

Dallas - 21
Green Bay - 28

Jets - 13
Chargers - 27

Jags - 20
Colts - 24

Saints - 28
Broncos - 31

Carolina - 27
Vikings - 17

I want to pick the Saints over the Broncos, but I don't know which Saints defense will show up so I can't make the pick soundly. And yes, I'm going with Green Bay over Dallas, sticking with that one. I didn't see hardly any pass defense from Dallas last week against Philly and I think Green Bay's pass offense is even better than Philly's; Rodgers will continue to make good decisions for the most part but might get picked once early on. I'd also like to see the Jags win, but I just don't see them doing it with the way their O-line is right now. No AP = solid win for the Panthers against the 1-dimensional Vikings, who can reach 5-0 before their first division game since their next two are against the Falcons and Chiefs; they'll need as many wins now as they can get if they want to win their division. Joey Porter still won't be able to back up his talk as the Patriots decide to let Cassel stretch the field with Moss a few times against that awful excuse for a defense. Steelers are coming off of a good win against Cleveland, while Philly is coming off of a hard loss and a short week from the Dallas game; I think Steelers can run the ball efficiently and Big Ben will make plays with his feet and his arm while avoiding costly mistakes; Steelers D comes up big late in the game in this one.

That's my weekend preview. :D :nice:

Know whats odd..last year the offense kept putting up 38 points for a few wks straight. Now the Defense is only allowing 10 points for each game the past 2 wks. Lets hope they can keep it up. If Cassel only has to generate 13 points a game were good :D

Haha yeah, I noticed that. I think it really speaks to the leadership on that team; when one big guy goes down, the other side picks up the slack and plays even better. :nice:

Maybe they can hold the Colts to 10 points..... alright, it was a nice thought anyways :D lol
