That will give you any available code in an EEC-IV system but the airbag is not included and not monitored by the ECU.

Thank you!
So I count the flashes, count time elapsed between flashes, then count the second set of flashes to get the code manually, correct?

Here's the specific page for your 92:

Mustang 1992 Air Bag Diagnostic Codes

I had to go there too so I figured I'd list the page. I don't have an airbag and didn't know the ones that did threw trouble codes.

Good stuff! I genuinely thought that light was just a "No Worky" light.

Maybe (probably!) I'm missing something here.
How do I get the 2 digit code?
I read that I have to manually count the flashes of the air bag light.

You don’t scan rye codes so you can only count the air bag light flashes. Typically it’s the air bag module that fails and more specifically it’s the capacitors in them aging out.

It's on that page that I linked from Coup's above. Just scroll down the page, you will run into the instructional portion for counting the flashes.

Right, so once I count the flashes how does that correlate to the 2 digit code?
I believe the capacitor(s) or rechargeable battery are located in the back up power supply behind the glove box

Quick update, the Air Bag Code is error# 51. I have looked into this and realize that the microprocessor fuse in my control module has opened to prevent possible
air bag deployment.
I have ordered the 1 ohm resistor in order to safely trouble shoot the issue.

I'm an Electronics Tech (10 years USAF) with excellent component level trouble shooting skills as well as soldering and de-soldering skills.

Can I repair the module myself by replacing the microprocessor fuse once I have found the ground fault, sensor fault or high resistance connection?

If unable to repair the module, does anyone have one they would be willing to sell me?
There are no modules to be found anywhere on line at this point in time.

Thanks!

The same airbag module is used in way more ford cars than the 92 mustang. You may be able to find one in an old f150 or crown Victoria. They should also be in the escort and tempo..along with the Lincoln vehicles. Would have to be vehicles that only offered drivers air bag. Get the part number from yours and match it up at a pick and pull yard. Might be able to fill that gap online if you know how to dissect and repair one.
