93 Mustang Air Bag Module Repair

So 90 & 91 are different from 92 & 93. You can find compatible cars if you have the part number. So on the module in the picture above the part number is F2AZ-14B056-AD where the "D" is a revision number. Go to any Ford dealer website and plug that par number minus the "D" into the search and it the module will pop up and show discontinued. I have used this dealer in the past:

Enter "F2AZ-14B056-A" in the search bar and then when the part comes up scroll down and all the compatible vehicles that this module will work in come up. Go to a salvage yard and get one out of one of those cars.

It didn't work for mine. Replace the Z in that part number with an F and that is my part number. I plugged it in and got nothing.

My apologies. The part number I used is the updated part number from the one that is on your module. The part number on your module crosses over to these Ford vehicles:

1992-1994 Aerostar, Capri, Crown Victoria, Econoline Van, Grand Marquis, Tempo, Topaz
1994 Festiva/Aspire
1992-1993 Mustang

If you use the updated part number you get a lot more vehicles to choose from.

Would you happen to know the location for the SRS Control Module on the 1993/1994 Crown Vic or E-150 Van? My local Pull-A-Part has two of each and trying to find where the modules are on the vehicles.

That makes sense. I suppose one could use a timer relay to simulate that.

That's what I'd do to get through the inspection. Wire in a timer that turns the light on for 3-4 seconds once it receives a 12V signal from ignition on.

I'd still fix the module, but wouldn't be under the gun to get it done for some inspection

I don't have info for 1993, but for 1996 it was in the glovebox area or pass kick panel

I ended up repairing the module myself.
The first thing you need to do is desolder all the large 2200uf and 100uf capacitors.
These leak over time and the material inside corrodes the circuit board.
You will need to repair the "runs" (connections) on the board as necessary before the capacitors are replaced.
There is no reprogramming necessary .
Looks like I am going to have to find one either on eBay or the junk yard because that place in TX said mine was too far gone to fix.
