93 Mustang Air Bag Module Repair

I had heard it mentioned that there was someone (Texas?) that was repairing Fox Body Air Bag Control Modules.

Does anyone have a link or any info?
I've gone as far as I can go chasing down my Error Code 52.
At this point I would gladly send it out and pay to have it refurbished.

Thanks!

Chris

Did you have any luck? I was wondering if I do the same thing, when I get it back will I have to have it reprogrammed to my car or will it still be programmed to my car?

Read through the entire thread for context

I ended up repairing the module myself.
The first thing you need to do is desolder all the large 2200uf and 100uf capacitors.
These leak over time and the material inside corrodes the circuit board.
You will need to repair the "runs" (connections) on the board as necessary before the capacitors are replaced.
There is no reprogramming necessary .

I wonder though, if I were to find the same part number online, if it would need to be reprogrammed with my VIN? If that’s the case, I wonder how I could do that?

I have a repaired/tested unit for a 1992-93 Fox Body.
What year is your Fox?
It’s a 1993 Cobra. Just need one to turn the light off so I can pass the state inspection in GA so I can get it titled. The picture is the box I pulled out that is not working.

I have one spare unit compatible with a 92-93: Mustang.
I could do $150.00 plus shipping with a PayPal Invoice
The reason I am a bit hesitant is because lots of websites that pose these for sale also show the following disclaimer:

This Module is USED and needs to be reprogrammed for your vehicle. Please check with your dealer/mechanic before purchasing.

You need to get the error code from your module.
Key your ignition on, you don't need to start the engine.
Count the first series of flashes, write down the number.
Their will be a 1-2 second pause, count the second series of flashes, write this number to the right of the first number.
For example 53 is a very common error code.
The first series of flashes is the tenths and the second series of flashes is your ones.

If you have a STEADY AIR BAG LIGHT, your air bag module is disconnected and will need to be plugged in to read the failure code.
MAKE SURE YOUR BATTERY GROUND IS DISCONNECTED WHEN PLUGGING/UNPLUGGING THE MODULE.
Feel free to reach out with any questions.

Actually, I'm going to hang on to this one as a spare.
What error code is your unit showing?
I could repair/test it for you if you want.
I don't blame you. They are hard to come by. It was flashing a code 44 for the RH front crash sensor. I fixed that and the code went away. Now it is flashing code 52. I sort of did what you did and sent mine off to airbag systems in TX. It got there last week. Waiting for it to be repaired.
