I confirmed with the previous owner the car had been daily driven for nearly 6 years with regular oil changes. After seeing several oil/gasket leaks, the previous owner tore down the motor to the long black and regasketed everything on the way back up with a full FRPP gasket kit ( remainder to come with the vehicle). The paint is nice shape ( 8/10) but had several cosmetic items in the front end so the passenger fender, front bumper and both of the front skirts were reshot which appeared to have been rubbed by incorrect size tires some time in the past. A paintless dent repair specialist go over the entire vehicle, resolving ALL dents except for 1 in hatchback area that couldn’t be reached(have pictures of vehicle in as purchased condition for reference). Only major paint defect is the top of the rear wing.
Car is a driver Cobra. Vehicle runs and drives. All accessories are in functioning order, except for the AC that needs recharged. Car appears to have a mass air sensor problem or pcm issue as engine starts but has lean pops and stumbles a bit. Vehicle has several small chips/scratches on body and the leather seats are worn, and one/two small burns in the back seat. I am including a brand new set of FRPP Bullit pedals the current ones are worn/missing. The local Les Schwab ran through the vehicle when performing a 4 wheel alignment and everything checks out good. Car is waxed and detailed inside and out, ready to drive. Stock stereo is not installed and has been replaced with an aftermarket unit. Steering feels great, as do the brakes, transmission and suspesion. Power locks work but are difficult to operate with keys. Rear strut tower interior trim is missing as well.
Now for the “BUT”. The vehicle was purchased by the previous owner with a VIN# corresponding to a 1990 GT. Before purchasing the vehicle, he took the vehicle to the local Washington State Patrol inspection station where everything checked out 100%. He researched the VIN discrepancy through Ford/SVT and ordered both build sheets which have yet to arrive ( according to Ford, still in processing 05/22/08). Looking at the vehicle, it is very clear that the Teal Metallic is the original color. Also, during the teardown, the Cobra buckplate was found still attached to the front end, the correct 1993 Cobra ECM calibration sticker (X3Z) still on the door. Also, you can see Teal paint to the left of the VIN plate on the dash. See pictures for references to above. All 1993 Cobra specific pieces were present when he purchased the vehicle, minus the Intake, MAF, ECM and taillights which were all stock 5.0 HO pieces. Only item not replaced was the ECM which is a “A9L” unit. Wheels ( left/right), Rear disc brakes, GT40 heads, 1.7 RR rockers Body kit, seats, etc.. are all present and accounted for.
Using several worn VIN stickers on the vehicle, the buck plate, and several areas on the frame, he extrapolated the original VIN# of the car to be : 1FACP42D2PF137437 . This tracks back to a 1993 Teal Cobra, sold from a local Ford Dealership “Skagit Ford”, with all of the appropriate options. The previous owner to him was sold the vehicle as a “GT” and had no clue of it’s Cobra status. Both VIN#’s have clean car fax’s.
In Washington state, you can have a VIN# reassigned by a process similar to a lost title. I chose to NOT do this to make anything more convoluted than it is and let the new owner make the choice on how to handle the VIN# going forward. Interior is a 6. Exterior is an 8. Vehicle is currently registered in WA.
Vehicle is sold as is, with no warranty stated or implied. Shipping will be responsibility of buyer, and I will assist with process if needed.
