I've never heard of a a couple of those brands - are you from outside the U.S.?

I've used Standard, Delco and Motorcraft and they all did fine.

Me either. the problems lie with the MSD dizzy itself not the car and rotor.
I did notice a pick up in pwr with the MSD cap vs. the standard replacement.

Apparently my ex-husband made that mistake.

Yeah, the MSD Dizzy has had a bad reputation. I've never had good luck with them. The thing to look for is the metal parts of the cap and rotor. A quality cap and rotor will have brass instead of aluminum. The best used to be the Accel cap (the ugly brown one). The Accel one was assembled first, and then the inner circumfrence was machined after assembly. This process guaranteed a perfect gap between the rotor and all the points. Accel also used to make their caps with thicker plastic making them more consistent. All the other companies machined the parts seperately, and then pressed them in afterwards. However, Accel has stopped doing this with their caps. They are selling the same crap as everyone else now.
