First time poster. Ok, so heres the deal. Today, I went to go look at a 1996 mustang gt auto with 110k miles on it. So we go for a test drive and he suddenly mentions to me that that the car will not shift into 2nd gear unless you do so manually. If you put it in drive it will just keep reving until you reach the limiter. Once you manually shift from 1 to 2, then to drive, it will go from 3 to 4 fine without manually shifting. The guy is really content on telling me all it needs is a fluid change. He said the car has sat for 5 years in storage and he brought it out and this is what the car was doing. The thing is he is desperate for money and said I could have it for $2300. Everything else is pretty nice for a 15 year old car. I can do basic maintainance but I would never think about opening up a tranny. I know it's hard to tell without seeing the car, but do you think it's something simple, like a sensor, or is the tranny going out?
