I just got back from running the 1/8 mile track, my one and only run was a 9.51 with a 2.4 60'. Being as nervous as I was I forgot the mph, the reason I only ran 1 time was because my clutch went out, its been bad for about a week now but today finished it off. My car is a 90 lx hatch 5spd. with 2.73 gear and flowmaster mufflers and kumho radial tires on chrome ponies. :bang: I was hopin for a 9.1-9.2 :damnit:

Just the mufflers and a K&N panel filter as far as mods, but after my neighbor puts me a new clutch in I'll go back because it was fun....when I first got their I was surrounded by 6 and 7 sec foxes and bbc's :) I was think oh damn what am I doin here :D ...then the rice burners came in runnin 10's 11's and 12's. Another mistake I made was reving 2nd gear almost to the rev limiter lol

What kind of clutch do you guys recommend? I'm also gonna try some aluminum pullies and sell my chrome ponies so I can get some weld wheels. I heard every 10 pounds of extra rotational mass cost you .10 is this true? If so I should lose about 30 pounds by switching to welds right?

Also what would be a good 60' with 2.73's and street tires or is it a waste even trying with crappy gears and tires?

I would recommend a Spec Stage 2. I wouldn't waste the money for the aluminum pullies just get steel unless you can find a good deal on a used set. I ran [email protected] stock with a 2.2 60' but I didn't launch off the line either. You could probably get a 1.9-2.0 60' if your lucky with street tires (not drag radials).

thats not bad man, ur car is pretyt much stock the filter and mufflers arent gonna help your pefromance at all really, so your like stock, 2.4 60' time is not very good but u can work on it, ive never been to the track yet so i cant say anything but good job, fix the clutch, and get some gears and that 60' time should drop, good luck next time

also not sure about that weight thing, but any weight u take off your car will help, i would like make sure all the stuff is out of your car, and junk u have in there, make sure the spare tire is out, thers nothing else u can really do to loose weight without doing some mayjor things, like a/c delete, rear seat deletes, atleast nothing that i cant think of, the drag welds should help on weight tho so those would be good

whats up with running 1/8, no one around here (NY) ever says I ran ____ in the 1/8th... only 1/4 mi. but anyway, I think you need hears, subframe connectors, a replacement clutch, and just some more practice. When I first got my car, I went to the track and ran like a 17.# in the 1/4. It was my first manual car, and i dumped the clutch, this led to spinning up to third gear. I went to the track 6 months later with no more mods (stock car), and went 14.5 in the 1/4 at like 96mph. to run a 14.5 at 96 requires good driving in a stock mustang. If you improve a fraction of how much I did, you will definately be happy with your times. also, your clutch was probably on it's way out before your run, so you probably lost some power to the wheels there.
