Wow. All I can say is, what a humbling experience. You think you are a pretty good driver, but when you get up to that tree it is completely different. I couldn't stick a good launch if my life had depended on it. Either I would rev lower and hook but then bog, or I would just roast the front tires. It's deffinately going to take some practice. I might go next Wednesday to take another crack at it. I deffintely need to get used to having motor mounts and new tires when launching, it feels copletely different. Anyways, I did see one GT there. I think it was a dark green with tan top vert. (99+). It was Wed. night. I know my car is capable, I just have to get better. By the way, I drive a 2003 Acura RSX Type-S, but I'm a Mustang fan. Later

lol. thats funny. i was wondering why motor mounts were mentioned. scratching my head wondering why it would really make a difference in a mustang.

well, anyhow- i was there also. i dont have new motor mounts yet and might not do that for awhile. i was running consistently, except the run where i missed two shifts & also they had the track set up for the kiddies in the dragsters so the timer was set to 1/8 mile only. at least i dont know what my 1/4 time was. heheh. that timeslip is still crumpled up *somewhere* behind the driver's seat of my car.

im pretty sure i saw you there with a cutie in the passenger seat, heheh.

So what did you run, Matt?

I'd like to go out there again sometime soon but I need tires... tires = $$$

Last time I was just out there spinning looking like an idiot.

Although I did get this cool footage and some sweet pics.

Oh yeah, lots of spinning tires. And lots of bogging. I'll find the sweet spot. kingj07, I'm pretty sure I saw you. There were 3 red SRT-4s there though. One with wheels and de-spoilered. Anyway, I did a 15.75 and I'll leave it at that. There are people running with similar setups running mid 14s so I know the car is capable, I just need to practice.

You'll get better Matt.....just practice more, practice those launches. And yeah....it's funny how that little tree just has a weird presence unlike anything else.

Matt - That drop top Stang you saw was me....I thought you looked familiar, but I wasn't sure. I was doing horrible that night also, so don't feel too bad. My best for the night was a 15.001. Funniest thing is, my best before that was a 14.7 back in June.

Kingj07 - I miss shifted on my last run of the night....it was bad. I went up against a Honda Civic hatch that ran a 13.89....I think that run could have been my best for the night too if I wouldn't have mis-shifted. I ended up running a 16.897 or something close to that.

Did any of you guys see the purple Neon with the dual tips out the back of the car? He was blowing smoke everywhere and he consistently ran 20's. I think the dude is about ready for a new engine...burning oil like none other. I am surprised they let him keep racing, cause he kept loosing parts down the track... On of the Fox body mustangs blew a tire on one of the guys parts.

Yeah, it's deff. a learning experience. I leave for Basic Training on the 23rd, so I want to go at least one more time. It's weird, it feels like I'm doing everything the same as I would on the street, but I don't think I'm feathering the clutch like I normally do. I wasn't even nervous, just to worried about r/t, holding my revs, etc. With these motor mounts there is no wheel hop any more, so it's actually harder to feel what the car is doing. Anyways, I had Dani with me and she actually had a fun time.

Was Dani riding in the car with you Matt? Shocked she had a good time, but then again...she is pretty open minded with things.

lol, we had 5 red ones there, 4 running and 1 playing crew chief to us all. the one with the wheels was just painted stockers on back and wheels & drag radials on front.

that p.o.s. shouldnt have even made it to the street. im not sure how he got that thing out of the dam driveway. thats b.s. that he was losing parts & somebody got flatened by one.

r/t should never be on your mind if you are just running for fun and seeing what kind of time you can make. do worry about where your rev in on launch tho, cause that is some data you have to take with you each time you line up.

you guys should knock me upside the head sometime and say 'hi.' im the scrawny srt guy who usally has a black hat on if not strapping on the helmet. i dont like missing runs so i usually jump in line immediately unless i screwed up my car. ill slap on my white bud light hat this wednesday so itll be easy to see.

I think I know that guy in the crappy neon, he's part of my buds neon club.
I think he's got 5k mi. on his engine, it's got forged pistons, con's, nitrous, he blew a sillanoid so he ran nothing but rich the whole way down. I agree, his motor is done, unfortunately.
