I have had my new GT since Wed. afternoon and it's by far the best all around ponycar/sportscar/musclecar out of all I have owned. That list includes an '85 Monte Carlo SS(NEVER was very fast but had sex appeal)one '86 and one '87 12 sec. Grand National(for their time very plush interior, Ass kicking appearance and nosebleed acceleration with the comforts of your living room)A '91 Mustang GT and a '99 Z28 six spd( the SS style wheels and hood I put on it really made the appearance factor increase by 100%) and the '71 Buick GSX I still own which is at a 33 year disadvantage in the handling department. Most posts I have read regarding the quarter mile performance between the new GT and the LS1's have given the LS1 the edge. I agree but now by very much. My Z had CAI/tune/Cat-Back/synthetics. I sold the Z to my dad and I still drive it occasionally and I did a back to back comparison today These are MY OPINIONS so dont flame me and waste space on here because I am not changing my mind so here goes------------------------
Handling on normal roads within 23-30 mph of legal speeds--EVEN
Ease of shifting---GT
Styling---GT but I am biased because I LOVE the '69-70 Boss stangs and lets face it the '69 Camaro was the SEXIEST of all. The LS1 4th Gen are a distant 3rd.
Tightness of body---EVEN but my Z had SFC's and the GT doesn't and I don't think it will need them
Acceleration--- Z28... but like I said it is not stock and when I get my CAI and Xcal tune on the GT we are going to Beech Bend before winter and race. I am sure it will be within 2-3 tenths and 2-3 mph.
Fit and Finish----Buick GSX with the GT a close 2nd. This GT is by far the best I have seen on ANY new American car including the GTO's and Vettes at the local GM dealership.
These are my opinions and I am sure some won't agree so let the flames begin. :nice:

Two things I forgot-------------1. I would have kept the Z and bought the GT but with my 2 cars and truck and my girlfriends car my garage space is limited and the insurance on all would suck and 2. if Ford would have kept the '94-'04 bodystyle I would have never looked at a new GT regardless of its power. I would rather own another '89-'93 5.0 GT or LX. Those years are in the same boat on styling as the GTO...some love them/some dont. I could be persuaded to get a '04 Mach 1 and the '04 Cobra has awesome from the factory power.

Nice review. Do you have any pics? Did you get the rear spoiler or not? My '06 TR GT was built on 8-23. I'm looking forward to taking delivery and comparing it to my '98 Cobra in much the same way as you have.

I am in putting on my side scoops today. I already have my front spoiler and rear louvers put on and as soon as a friend of mine paints my Boss hood scoop I will post a few pics.
Here is a few pics...
Can you post some bigger pics of the front with the chin spoiler and some more side ones? Please? I wanna see what my car could look like with those. Thanks!

I tried to post bigger pics but it said file was too big. Here is one with the Boss hood scoop placed on the hood for looks. A friend of mine is going to paint the scoop this week. I will probably mount it this weekend.

Thanks Jen,
I believe the pic of your car was the one I saw on here that made me decide to buy the rear louvers a month before I got the car. Nothing like a pretty backside view........ :nice:
