Hey guys, I will admit I drive my car a bit too hard sometimes and now its starting to show. When I shift from 2nd to 3rd at high rpm, it grinds a bit. Not nearly as bad as my friend's 98 Cobra does, but its noticeable. What are some things I could try to help it? The car is still under warranty, but I'm thinking they may tell me to take a hike when they see my mods and short throw shifter.

Thanks!

I say try to take it back to the dealer...but if not your on a trip towards a new tranny.IMO

mine started to grind and you can hear the synchros whine so I bought a new one. I tried to change the tranny fluid to royal purple synchromax (which you may want to try) but that did nothing for me.

If you have the stock shifter put that back in before you take it in

Yeah now that I think about it, my 3rd gear whines quite a bit if you lug it at a low rpm. So you think it may be synchros? How difficult is it to put new ones in?

I think I would ask if they are covered under warranty because with that new of a car I wouldnt think it would be bad yet. Mine is a 97 with 65k and they started going about 5k ago and I beat it.

If the dealer won't fix it under warrenty, try putting Mobil 1 synthetic ATF in there. If the problem is still there, the only thing you can do is wait for the tranny to take a sh1t. You can rebuild the synchros but you might as well put a stronger tranny in.
