When you talk about a new wiring harness, are we talking rewiring the whole car, or just the electricals for the motor? The reason I am asking is I am fixing to begin searching for a fox body car to do some "work" on starting next school year. A 4-cyl would be cheaper, but the car has to be done within 5 months of starting it, which means I'll have to go ahead and order parts beforehand.

All the stock 4cyd wiring will work fine, just find an A9L computer and complete efi harness out of a 89-93 because they are already mass air, including injector harness, and o2 harness. Shouldn't be to hard, they are on ebay all the time. Good luck.

You will need an efi harness from a 92 or 93 car because of the location of the fuel pump and air bag relays.

89 wont work b/c it has 2 connectors that plug into the dash harness, your 92 has one... 90-91 fuel pump relays are located in a different place (interior of car) if I remember correctly... so those wont work either.

**** , my harness is from a 93 (came with an a3m computer so must be a 93 harness) and my 4 cyl hatch is a 90, does that mean i should try finding a 90-91 harness? maybe ill just shell out the bucks for the painless mass air wiring (already have a computer for it) how much is it?

Yup a 92-3 engine harness, i think any mass air computer will work and then its all just plug and play. It wouldnt hurt to keep an eye out for a 92 V8 gauge cluster and proper speedo gear too.

Stangroastrice: yeah get an 90 engine harness but keep your computer, you shoud be able to trade or sell and buy the harness no need to spend the money on painless unless its what you really want, otherwise put the money elsewhere.

yeah i just found out that the 90 harness is unique so anyway, i found where to get a 90 harness, now could i take the injector harness and **** off the 93 harness since the 90 im looking at is just the mass air harness?

They are different....I went through all this when I "migrated" my 89...you want to try to get the exact same year harness that you car is if at all possible...89...90-91...92-93...I pefer the a9l or a9p computers.

think its going to be different because the 5.0 explorer will probably have the external tfi module plug and all that bull**** on it while the fox bodies have one built on the distributor (this is just one thing that could be different on the harness, i bet there is others)

Question: If I use a 87 5.0 for a donor car in my 93 2.3 LX; can I use the enginer wiring harness and computer from the 87?

I realize I'd be running a 87 GT without the 93 MAF- but will the 87 engine harness and computer work with my 93 dash wiring?

everyone is saying that the dash harness is the same from 90-93?I had a 90 5.0 donor car and put it all in a 93 body.I had to change every wire in the car including the dash harness.Right beside you brake booster there was one white plug coming out of the four banger harness and the car wouldnt get fire from the ignition.I then put the dash harness out of the 90 which had two plugs,a white one and a black one.Now maybe mine was just some freak that is different from all the others but in my case going from a 93 four cyl to a 90 v8 i did have to change the dash harness

Is there anywhere I can find out which years are compatible with my 93? or is a 93 donor car all I can get?

hey whats up. i am in NH also. for your 93 mustang you need a 93 wiring harness & computer. the 93 harness is the only one that can be used for a 93 car without alot of rewiring. see my sig. to see what i did w/ my 4 cyl conversion!

Nice Mustang project!

ok, so no prob getting a 93 harness and computer- does that mean I'll need a 93 engine and engine harness too?

I have a wiring diagram that says the 90-93 is the same???
