Did anyone know how can reprogram the computer for my 4 cyl 2.3l n/a, that also can make a dynotest, in Houston or san Antonio and how much it cost, the engine has 6000 miles, k&n filter, no problems with sensor or vacuum leak, I use royal purple on the engine, transmission and differential

If you could get the car to one of the Chip places they could put the car on a Dyno and custom burn you a chip.

My dad had one burned for his Escort ZX2 back when there were no chips for them.

He got lucky and they offered to burn it for free if he would let them keep the car all day. They wanted to use his car as the prototype for the new chip since no one had brought a ZX2 in before. Once they had all teh data and burned a chip and tsted it they could then list chips available for a ZX2.

Maybe no one has bothered bringing a 2.3L n/a EFI car to them before.

I say call them and see. Worse they can do is say "no go away".

Doesn't work like that unfortunately...the Zx2's use the newer style ECU's with reprogrammable ecu's. With an SCT tuner or similar, you can reburn any of the newer ecu's so the ZX2 wasn't a problem for them. With the older ecu's though, the ecu's don't work that way...they require a piggyback system which requires somebody to sit down and break down all of the code which takes 100's of hours in many cases...just to get a definition file.

OK what about converting to a Megasquirt EFI computer and a Megajolt to control the DIS?

You could completely control the fuel injection system and ignition timing with a latop computer attached.

Ahh, and finally, we have an answer of Yes. haha

That's an excellent suggestion that has been throughly used by people on TF, and soon myself.

Is this theoretical setup still going to be on a stock 2.3NA? I really like MegaSquirt, but factory tunes are generally very hard to improve on with a factory engine. I can think of one exception, but it's not a Ford.

Dunno:shrug:

if its a stock motor why would you bother changing it?

If the motor is gonna be a built up N/A a Megasquirt and a Megajolt could just be the answer.

Last I saw the MS kits were $100 and the MJ kits were still in reasearch.

That's my point exactly. A 150hp+ N/A 2.3 could probably benefit from MS.

I haven't seen any $100 MS-I v2.2 kits(I'd like to!), but MegaJolt isn't really necessary. I'm subscribed to the Yahoo! group, but lost interest after seeing all the other ignition options for MegaSquirt with MegaSquirt-n-Spark-Extra Code. There is an anti-lag version of the 2.25b code floating around that would great for a turbo rally car. :D
