2 questions on edelbrock manifold and O2 sensor

I'm finally cracking on my 66. I tried to clean the manifold with oven cleaner, and it tarnished the whole manifold!:

Is there anything I can use to get this junk off?

Also, How do you get the pins out of the connector on the edebrock O2 sensor. I remember doing it before but since forgot

I don't know where to buy Aluminum Brite, but it used to be used to clean aluminum wheels. It's a mild acid, try your auto parts store. I used to turn aluminum wheels white when used, then you had to polish them afterward. I hated to use the stuff because of it, but it may just be what you need to get rid of the black stain from the caustic soda.
 
DO NOT use Castrol Super Clean on ALUMINUM PARTS.

My brother used it on a polished wheel on his VW about ten years ago. DISASTER. Took like a day of work to fix all the pitting and discoloration.

We used to use EZ Off oven cleaner to remove annodizing from aluminum parts so we could polish them silver. I can't imagine using it on a non annodized part.

If that intake was mine, it'd be off to the bead blaster then off to the air compressor then off to the 5 gallon bucket of soapy water and then reinstalled.

That connector is a Weather Pack. They make tools to remove the pins once they are installed. I googled "Weather Pac Tools" and got a scad of links that may be helpful.
 
ok thanks craigmba . I sent an e-mail along with pics to my contact at edebrock and hopefully he will have a solution. I'll likely end up calling a jobber in town that can do the beadblasting then prolly take care of it with some clearcoat or maybe powdercoat. Anyone have any good experience with the duplicolor stuff etc? I'd like to get the car back together by next weekend, so an order with eastwood might be out of the question.
