I'm getting ready to make the change and need some info. I have a 302 with an automatic transmission. I was wondering if I'll still be able to use the original throttle cable and kickdown or will both have to change to Lokar cables?

If you choose the right carb and intake, you can use both. One intake that has the throttle cable bosses behind the carb pad is Ford Racing's A321. I believe the Edelbrocks also have it with the exception of a Victor Jr. As for carbs, Holley offers several models with the Ford kickdown linkage. List #80457 is one. The Street Avenger series also has it if I'm not mistaken. Look them up and it tells you in the description if it's got it.

First off if you have a 65-68 you don't have a kickdown rod that attaches to the carb.

If you have a 69-73, get the Lokar kickdown cable kit and ditch the rod.
