Joined Stangnet december 2004. Don't currently have a mustang, just life does that to you sometimes. I'll inherit a mustang that's been in the family 50 years, just haven't cranked it in a while. Anybody have tips or a specific order of starting an old 302. The fuel tank does have a drain so I'll start there.

That's a start.
First gen mustang?
Make sure engine is not locked up, clean/replace fuel tank, blow out fuel lines, check float bowl for gunk and send it. Oh, and check oil.

I'll add that you might want to be prepared to replace the fuel pump and/or any other dry rotted rubber pieces, and probably a new in-line fuel filter right before the carb to be on the safe side. I guess it all depends on how long it's sat without any attention.
