Am I the only one who is not feeling any of these new cars??

It seems like all the cars (under 40k) skimp somewhere


For example rx-8 ** great handler ** no balls... took the fun out of driving for me :/


wrx - evo ** great performers /bang for the buck** 4 doors, wrx is definitely not an eye catcher, not feeling the 4 banger sound


jetta - fun to drive - good gas mileage - still looks like a grocery nabber though -

s2000 - *see rx-8 (at least i could fit in an rx-8)

crossfire -look wierd -- lacking performance

audi tt- looks cool, apparently handles no better then a mustang, reliability issues

mustang - fun to drive - has a v8 which is a plus - lets face it though, it does not have sports car handling

miata - come on its a golf cart -- i cant even fit in one of those

350z/g35 - good all around performance -- man wheres the v8 - g35 is kind of heavy

challenger - pig heavy, anyone willing to place bets it handles like a big brick?

new camaro - *see challenger and mustang

Why can't a car company make a 2 seater v8 (dohc or pushrod) and throw it in a car the size and handling characteristics of an rx8 from the factory for under 40k??

id be happy with a 300hp v8 rx-8


im planning on purchasing a newer car this year.. wish i had more choices then a corvette I would love a v8 rx-7 its just hard for me to justify 20k on a car thats 15 years old..

maybe im just picky :/

Used BMW M3. Not a V8 but has power and handles well.

Chevy did it with the C5 Corvette roadster. The problem was, the Z28 was so close in performance that even with the lower price, they didn't sell like they hoped. Why pay $36 grand for the Corvette when you could pick up the Z28 for under $25 grand and just about match the performance? Of course, when GM dropped the F-body cars, the Corvette price went back up, where it's stayed. Even with a new one costing a little over $40 grand, they're still one of the best bang for the buck performance cars on the market. That being said, I couldn't afford one if I sold both my cars, my motorcycle, a kidney, and my soul.

I would have to go with the 350Z/G35 as probably the best bang for the buck, even minus the V8 option, personally. Hard to argue with the performance out of the Z with a base price around $28 grand.

You are starting to find 2000+ vetts fairly cheap...and older Zo6's are looking really well priced.

I was joking with the wife a few months ago about selling the mustang and the DD since I am looking to get a new DD and just getting a 01-02 Zo6 as it would be ballpark of what I am looking to spend on a new DD(brand new 08) after you take what I would be putting down from the mustangs sale.

I though she would never go for it and that is why I said it. Her response was "sure, either way I get to ride in a nice quick mustang or a nice quick vett". The biggest PITA is I drive 33miles one way going the shortest distance to work, god forbid traffic is a mess that route and it will be at least 2-3 years before we are looking to move closer to my job. I am not going to put those kinds of miles on a vett I am DDing...

The mustang and vett are both very hard packages to beat bang for the buck. The mustang is a pony car that can seat 4 while the vett is a great package for real sporty driving with 2 seats. They are not in the same market as one another segment wise. My only complaint is lets loose some of the weight on these cars...damn outside of the vett I think they are filling space with lead.

If your really wanting some fantastic performance, power, handling, and a back seat BMW does have a great product...I just wish they had made a sedan M3 after 98 was it?

I am more than not going to end up with a fusion as a new DD. I have gone back and forth with a few other ford products and I keep going back to that. Test drive one and you will be happy with what you get for a good bit less than other cars in its class. I have simple needs and dont need sat nav, leather (nice though), 18in + rims, seats that heat, cool, give you a spa' rub down. Just give me ok power, good economy, manual trans, A/C, and a solid chassis and an interior that was not designed by a 5yr old giving me 18 cup holders, mini bar, fridge, and a microwave.
