2000 gt engine noise

i installed a set of comp cams,and then new chain tensioner's with guides and when i started the motor it had a bad rattle sound along with a slapping sound! well the slapping sound stopped but it still has a bad rattle coming from under the valve (cam) covers. i need some help with this, i've worked on many 5.0's but this is my forst time tearing down a mod motor...HELP!!!!!

Did you degree the cams in? Bleed the lifters before reinstalling them?

Comp cams are known to have a few * of advance built into them and if you don't degree them and check for clearance you could end up with PTV contact.

after more checking,i found out that it is a notch or so outta time and the noise is coming from the timing chain...getting ready to tear it back apart..thanks alot

if my valves are tapping the pistons,if i degree them will that take that away???if so what do i need to do to do this?thanks for the help

well i like it pretty good. i think i went a lil too big,but its go big or go home right???lol. mine starts pulling hard around 3200 rpms and under that it wont fall out of a tree..lol but i got a 125 shot to help with that.
