2000 GT:

I agree. I’m liking them more on this car. The proportions are correct.

Granted, my tire sizes aren’t ideal. I was squeezing these on a fox so I had to be a little on the small side. 245 front and 265 rear on an 18x9.

If I could redo it, I think I’d do either a 265 or 275 front and maybe a 275 or 285 out back. Not touching a thing for now. It’s fine.

In case you are wondering why I didn’t go 18x10 out back. I’m not a fan of barrel style rims with big dished lips.

More pics with top down. I like them. Should have done this at start of summer.

Eh…said I was done but this was tempting.

Picked up a dirt cheap 01-04 parchment dash locally. This was a complete dash with column and wheel and airbags and cluster down to the wiring harness and radio and such.

Stripped it down to what I needed which is this.

Everything else got listed on eBay for dirt cheap, so I should make my $$ back and a little profit.

Gonna add some fresh dye to this and stash it in the attic for the winters. This will be a nice spring project.

Reason I want to swap is because my car is a 94-00 dash with the two single din radios that I had to fab up a bracket for the double din radio. Swapping this will be a much cleaner mounting solution and allow the radio trim bezel to cleanly mount.

I did a good job with my modifications in my ‘00 dash….but I am a perfectionist. So I need a good day to pull my dash. Transfer the wiring harness over and then swap this in. Not hard….but sn95 dashes are heavy when complete.

Too bad you can’t get that kit anymore.

I wish I could find one of those damn templates that was provided when you bought a scoop. Discontinued and I can’t find a template anywhere

Hey 5L5,

Take a look at this link and 'click around' in there. Their complete kits say, "out of stock" but there might be items in there that are still of use?

I looked for a printable template but no such luck. :(

This one is in Canada:

Finally scored a decent trunk.

For reference, my trunk had all these odd chips on top. Also, since I changed to the 01+ spoiler, my trunk still had the staining from the 99/00 spoiler that I couldn’t buff out.

Been stopping into local junk yards lately and finally came across a clean V6 01+ car. So I stole the trunk off it for $80.

Freshly removed at pick-a-part.

Quick wash to assess.

So I’ll need to give this the same treatment as the rest of the car. Wash, clay bar and then 2-step cut and polish and ceramic coat. Then we will mount it up and call that a wrap. I really think it will clean up nicely and match the condition of the paint on the rest of the car.

Ok.

As pulled from yard…

And after about 2 hours of work….

Paint has flaws…but it’s equal to the rest of the car. I can work with this.

Removed the latch and lock. Now time to pull me old trunk, strip it, and swap stuff over to this trunk and install.

I also need to install the rearview camera for my radio headunit. The one I had on my trunk currently points down too much so I’d like to fix that now that I have a blank slate. Might mean a new camera

Ok trunk installed. Wrapped it up tonight so no pics, but it’s just a trunk nothing to really see. It matches the rest of car.

Now for the GT emblem. This is a V6 trunk so that spot was empty.

Do I:

- leave it empty?

- put GT back on

- or do the Explorer V8

I’ll admit, I hate the 99-04 GT emblem. When I had my ‘03 GT I did the Explorer v8 in the trunk and v6 running pony emblems on the fender.

Guess I’ll just do nothing for now.

Couple nice days in the 70s this week. I plan on doing a few more drives, then install my cobra rear brakes, change the oil and park it for the winter.

I plan on working on the fox this winter so eager to park this bad boy….but it’s gonna be 75 on Monday, which is rare here in MA in late Oct.

Foliage is popping so I need a few good photos…
