My buddy just got a 2000 S281 Saleen with about 20k miles, car runs great, but just didn't seem to pull up top quite as hard as it should, so we dynoed it.
We got 273 SAE rwhp and the torque number seemed real good, don't remember exactly but ~340 seems like what I recall. Dyno room was about 75 deg, not bad with pretty low humidity. On a nice cool day I'm sure even the corrected numbers would be better. It also has the optional rims and 295 tires on the back, don't know how much that will effect the numbers. Boost go's to about 5 and then slowly climbs to 7 or so by 5800 rpm. If every thing seems about right what would be some good bang for the buck mods? Would an x-pipe and smaller pulley wake it up a bit more? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

try Chicane s/c pulley and Chicane RIPP kit (intake). then you can also move to exhaust like Long tube headers, H or X pipe. or if he really wants to go big he can get a New Supercharger like me..

Thanks for the info, I talked to Joe at Chicane and seems like they have lots of goodies. He also gave me a good lead on porting out the blower when my buddy gets to that point. Do you know of anyone else that has a pulley for our type of car? Thanks alot.

How much boost can you run w/o having to build the engine. Is 10 psi the max. recommended?

That's what I was told by the KB tech as long as you run 93-94 octane all of the time

10psi with the saleen blower becomes dangerous for the engine, it makes lot of heat and not much more HP than at 7psi. You'll get around 300rwhp and no more.
The KB will give you 100rwhp more for the same boost level.

Are there any results out there for the Magnussen ported stock blower? Just looking for alternatives for him because the KB path is $$$$. How much in mods will the KB route end up costing? Do you get an new IC with the KB blower?

Thats a good question and I bet they are different from the 2000-2002 atleast. I think in 2003 Saleen used a twin screw blower that might be more similar to the Roush. The Eaton on this car is very small, nothing like the 03 Cobra blower. I wonder if an 03 blower would bolt up?

Any thoughts on bolting up the 2003-2004 Saleen twin screw blower? I believe they came with a different intercooler also.

Does the IC for the KB go into the intake manifold like the stock one or does it go into the supercharger itself? If it does go to the supercharger, would you retain the stock IC then also and have both? Excuse me if this is a stupid question.

im actaully not sure, does the saleen intercooler slide into the s/c it self? or does it slide into the intake manifold? the KB is internaly oil cooled i guess so i would think the IC is inside it
