2001 cobra? or 99 cobra?

I just recently bought my 2000 v6 for $$10,400 (low miles) and i love the feel and look of the mustangs. But i have been looking in the paper and have noticed that i can get a 1999 or 2001 cobra for under $20,000, sometimes under 15k Does this sound like a good deal? obviously there are variables such as maileage and whatnot but most had around 40k. Was 2001 a good year for the cobras? How many miles can these cars put out before they take a dump? Anything wrong with the 2001's? What octane gas do these cars take?

same questions... whatabout the 99's?

thanks!

99 and 01's are both great cars. They take premium gas only.
You should be able to find 99 Cobra's out there for around $15K with moderate mileage on them and in good shape. Not sure on the 01's, but I would guess around $18K or so (not sure).

The cobras had a few problesm but they should be fixed...(SVT called owners and fixed the problem or something like that). A 2V GT is a great car...but...a cobra...is a cobra.

You can get the greatest bang for the buck for a '99 or '01 these days!
The only problem was that the '99 had a recall for not putting out the power it claimed. I'm sure most people had the fix done and you can easily find out.

Other then that they are great Cobra's minus the S/C
No problem on mine...NONE. I got 71k miles on her and still purring..well roaring.

Good luck on the search...if you find a Cobra you will never go back.

I paid $13,800 for my 99 Cobra almost a year ago now. LOVE IT! I was going to get a newer GT but when I saw the prices of 99 Cobras, there was just now way I was going to settle for a GT. 99% of the 99 Cobras have already had the fix done. You would have a VERY hard time finding one that hasn't had the fix. And if you did, it's probably because "the fix" is irrelavent for that car (i.e. too many mods to matter). This is all from the SVT rep I talked to when I was thinking about buying my car.

Go for the Cobra dude... you won't regret it.

I would go for an 01, which is why I did. They have a nicer interior, they make the power they claim and they also have 31 spline halfshafts instead of 28 like in 99. They also come w/ the polished cobra wheels instead of the alloys. The only downfall is that they have the POS TR3650 tranny.

Technically, the polished wheels for 2001 were one of three factory options, with the other two being A) floormats and B) rear spoiler/delete. It's safe to say that most of the 2001 snakes did come with polished wheels though.

The polished wheels are pretty nice but too skinny for me! I ditched them for aftermarket rims. Bought Saleens and they're pieces of S**T! Now I have BBS RK wheels on mine.

I agree, thats why I have chrome 03 cobra wheels on mine now. I never understood why all cobras didn't come w/ 9" wheels.
