Transmission
Base (T5OD)
GT (T45)

Gear ratio - 1st 3.35 3.37
Gear ratio - 2nd 1.99 1.99
Gear ratio - 3rd 1.33 1.33
Gear ratio - 4th 1.00 1.00
Gear ratio - 5th 0.68 0.67
Gear ratio - Rev. 3.15 3.22
Rear axle ratio 3.27:1 3.27:1
You could probaly make that work, w/maybe an adapter for the driveshaft. My guess would be that you need a V6 rearend and drive shaft for your swap to work. Might be worth learning how to rebuid your Tranny stronger and better.

Stick with a T45 or go to a TR3650. The T5 isn't rated for the torque output by the 4.6 and will likely give trouble down the road.

And don't go to a V6 rear axle. It's a 7.5 open-diff and won't last behind the V8 for long. The OE GT axle is the 8.8 and is very durable.

Yea the only thing wrong with the trans is when you put it in second and let off the clutch it sounds like its griding real bad but everything else is good.about how much you think it would cost to be re built?

If you get someone else to do the rebuild, denpending how much they think there talent is worth, 1500, give or take a couple of hundred but, you can cut that in half if you do the job yourself, most of us don't have a garage or anything that can hold 200 pound tranny stable enough to re-install.

You should be able to find a salvage T45 for far less than the cost of a rebuild. And they are very small, tough trannies. They weigh nowhere near 200 pounds. I would be shocked if they were over 100 pounds.

If it were me, I would search for a used one. Should be cheaper than a rebuilt, and the average backyard mechanic can change a tranny much easier than rebuilding one.

Keep in mind that you should probably change your clutch and all related parts while the tranny is off. Save yourself some time and money.
