My 99 gt's headlights are looking like just plain crap. They are all oxidized and you cant see out of em for crap, its getting down right dangerous. Ive told my dad about the 2001+ ones but he doesnt like the fact that they are smoked. He thinks this will cut down on the light output even more. I also need some good recommendations on some replacement bulbs. I dont want blue bulbs, just something bright that wont look like crap when I have the fogs turned on at the same time. Also, if there is any way to salvage the old headlights, I guess I could give that a try, but I imagine thats just delaying the inevitable...thanks for any help.

I'm sure if they let less light out it's not much. I'd think Ford would have thought about that?? I don't know though, just a thought. Some good bulbs are Silverstars. best bulbs ever made unless you want to get an HID kit. The bulb number is 9007 so you don't have to look it up.

Actually the light output is exactly the same. The lenses are NOT smoked. If you look at a pre 2001 and a post 2001 lense they are exactly the same. What makes them look smoked is that the reflector inside is painted black rather than the chrome plastic.

Oh wow, thank you very much, they sure do look a lot better. Both of you're comments have helped, thank you very much. Any others?

Exactly... pre-2001 had a chrome bezel inside where as the newer ones are black on the inside. Ford wouldn't put something on a car from the factory that was dangerous or cut down visibility.

Well, im looking on ebay at some of the ones that people are selling. None of them are OEM ford parts but are aftermarket parts built to OEM standards. I believe they are called 1AA automotive or something like that. They are only like 130 for both of em. I just want to know if anyone has used these lights and if they are total junk or great. Thanks again for all the help.

Try some motorcycle windshield polish

Works on the fog light lenses, too. I even use it on on '65's taillights. Makes 'em look like new. And it sure is cheaper than new assemblys. Now that assumes that you want to fix whatcha got and not go new......

If you are just looking for the housings they retail for $129 each from the dealer. That is just the housings without the bulbs or sockets. I am on my 4th set of lights, first 3 replaced under warranty. I replace them about once a year because of the fogging issues with these lights. I got the latest set from a dealer for $92 each.
