I recently bought a GT 2000 and I want to install the newer 2001 hood with GT air scoop in place of the original plain hood. Instead of buying the whole thing... is it possible to fit a "2001 Hood Top Grille 11 Mounting Peg Type" OEM#1R3Z16C630 on top of the standard GT 2000 hood? or will I have to buy also "2001 Hood w/GT air scoop holes, 11 mounting pegs" OEM#1R3Z16612AA?

hood:

scoop:

Any help will be appreciated.

if you're going with a new hood i'd go aftermarket...it'll be lighter and the oem hood is non-functioning...as far as attaching the scoop to your hod, i'm not sure

i think it will fit. but don't hold me to it.
I must agree with Zink03GT. If you going with hood swapp, might as well go wth aftermarket.
Cobra R hood perhaps?

Just buy the hood scoop itself. You don't need the entire hood.

you can keep the stock hood but you'll need to drill into it and use a sealant as well to seal the hood onto your stock unit. You'll just have to be carefull when aligning the holes when you drill.

It will fit. I recommend measuring 3x and making super sure your holes are right. My hood scoop (01+ scoop on 99 hood) isn't flush but I know how to fix it (with advice from StangNet)

You only need the scoop and don't buy it from the place that you linked, I paid $180 shipped from of eBay and I paid extra since it was a custom color (rio red was never made).

Thanks a lot for your help... I've just checked out a mustangworld.com article showing the process...

here: http://www.mustangworld.com/ourpics/fcar/scoops.htm

now I have another question...

there are two types of hood top grilles:

OEM No. 1Z3R-16C630
01 Ford Mustang Car Hood Top Grille 11 Mounting Peg Type

OEM No. 1Z3R-16C630 CPT
01 Ford Mustang Car Hood Top Grille 4 Mounting Peg Type

Why are there two kinds of scoops? Is the 11 pegs one replacing the 4 pegs one? Is it a newer part revision?

Any further help will be appreciated!

4 part one is the 99 limited edition and 00 spring edition scoop it's a little bit smaller than the 01+gt scoops other than that no difference just smaller..
