Hello to all and thanks for any help. I have recently had problems with my V6 01 Mustang's ac system. All the vents and floor vents blow out hot air as hot as could be all the time no matter what i do with the temp knob. After some trouble shooting and research I know that the ac compressor shouldn't be bad because when I touch the lines they are as cold as ice. I know the blower is working but I just can't get the cold air. I think it to be the Temperature blend door or a vacuum leak some were. I am hoping to find out how to look at the temp door and see if the components of it are working or if some one thinks I should look some where else I will. I really want to get this fixed before the Texas summer gets here an about 700 bucks at the dealer just to look at it and maybe not even fix it doesn't sound too good right now. Once again thanks for any help and look forward to be being a long owner of this mustang and this forum.

I can't remember if the default is full hot or full cold, but it sounds like you have a broken vacuum line. Get under the dash and trace the vacuum lines. Make sure all the fittings are secure and all the lines are smooth and don't have any cuts or breaks.
If nothing else works, you can disconnect the temp mix valve and secure it to full cold until you find the problem.

found a small crack
Thank you for this info I will try to look and see. I have found something that I am not sure if it is a vacuum line under the hood but it does have a crack. it is a metal line that runs from what looks like a dish on top of the hood that has a red line going too it. It also has a heat shield shroud around it but is has been burned or striped away from the where the hole is. I thought it was apart of the exhaust at first but now that the a/c has stoped working I am starting to wonder. Once again thanks for any help and I will look under the dash for the lines. The dampers are moved by a vacuum activated motor. So, if no vacuum, the dampers switch to their default position. That is the DEFROST position.
Possible that you have two problems. The heater is handled by the blending door which is controlled by the temperature knob. As the knob is turned, it open/closes the damper door to the heater. There are a pair of jacketed cables running from the temperature knob to the damper door. Remove the trim pieces around the radio. Next remove the AC control panel and the cables will be visible. Look for any damage. Next move the temperature control knob and see if the blender flapper moves as well.
Has any recent radio work been done?
Suggest that the under hood vacuum line be fixed and see if this resolves the issue.

I am going to fix that line today had to get chance because the stuff I am going to use on it take 15 hours to cure. Yes a it has a custom radio in it but that was done well over a year ago and it just happened last month would I need to take the dash off to get to the temp knob line or can I do it otherwise.
