Hi, im currently thinking about getting a v6 stang, the reason over the gt is because my parents wont let me haha.Anyways im 18 but i know alot about the 4.6 liter engine( my friends have them) I was wondering what i could do to a 2001 v6 too get into the 14's? I was thinking Off road h-pipe connected too gt dual exhaust, 4.10 gears. Would that do it? Also what does a 99+ v6 do in the quarter? And how far off are they from 96-98 gt's?

I believe 99+ gets you around a mid high 15's. Anybody correct me if I'm wrong.

I have a 98 V6, I raced a stock 98 GT he pulled a 15.3 to my 16.1, although mine wasn't stock.

You could give an older GT(94 to 98) a hard time with a few bolt ons if it were stock. I think you would be pushing it to get into the 14's with gears and exhaust, but you would be just in the 14's or damn close. I would think low 15's.

if you have a AODE, you wont see 14's. if you have a 5-speed, get 4:10's and a chip and exhaust and intake.

take the advice of GREENBIOCH and serch for a 96 - 97 GT

Just don't get a 96GT. Bad choice.

I got 3:73's, TLock, CAI, and shifter and I did a 15.3. I'm sure if I had more practice and better traction, I could have done better.

The other night, I met a guy that had a 96-98V6 converted to a 5.0. We raced twice not from a stand still and I pulled him a good door or so. He was like, "Damn! That's a fast freaking V6!".

Same thing the other week. Raced a 94GT 5spd with exhaust. He all comes flying up on me I guess to show off to his buddy by beating a V6. Needless to say I pulled him a nice car or so

I'm not saying I beat V8's cause I don't. I just hang with the mostly stock ones or autos. Hell, bone stock, my 94GT auto only did a low 15! But for my daily driver only being a V6, I think it does pretty damn good!

Look at my mods, (V-6) and you’ll be in the mid to upper 14’s all day long! I have smoked countless 5.0 and a handful of early 4.6’s.

MM&FF got a 99+ V6 to do 15.1 stock. Of course it's also their job to do so.

thats BS no one has EVER came close to that.... ford gave them a factory freak or they are full of it.... 15.4 is the fastest i have seen STOCK with a great driver, if you go quoting 15.1s expect a major let down at the track.

they actually pulled off a 14.94. and just cause you havent seen it yourself, doesnt mean it isnt possible. in their case, all the conditions were just in their favor.

I ran a 15.4 with a few random bolt-ons and i wouldn't consider myself an exceptionally good driver... I would say 15.1 is definitely possible with the right conditions and a good driver.

It took me 3.73s, t lok, underdrive pulleys, bassani exhaust, cold air intake, and LOTS of practice on my launch to get 14s. Practice your 60' times! Those seem to be the "make or break" point to gettin good times w/ your car

Get a 99+, and get 4.10 gears, midpipe, catback exhaust, T/A, U/D pullies, and that should give you a good start.

/HI-JACKING THREAD!

We got a 94 V6 Automatic for a little beater, what would be the best mods to get her in the 14 second time zone.

I was thinking about a cam, port the upper and lower intake(not sure how much to port, or what gasket to port to), true dual exhaust, 4:10gears, headers, port the maf possibly? and some rigged CAI(not sure how they affect V6's, since they dont do anything for V8's)...

BTW, she is an automatic, and I do not plan on doing any transmission work(stall converter, etc).

I am a V8 guy, never EVER bothered with a V6.

At least im trying to learn!

Might be able to. Might need to do alil more internal work, but you should be able to get 14s out of that

I do not plan on opening up the V6 or doing transmission work, just basically the bolt on's.

Possibly underdrive pullies as well.

Wish I knew more about the v6.

I can always turbocharge it and be done with, since that is what I do best, but I dont trust it.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I'm working on a 14 sec time right now. I have all the bolt-on's and I'm working on the H/C/I right now. This should get me into the 14's. With just the bolt on's in my sig cept the Half shafted TB, I pulled a 16.1. The 14's won't come till the ported head/cam swap. So in your 94 it will take alot of work to get to 14's especially with no gears, unless you just get boost or juice. I'm trying to go as far as I can N/A though before the poweradder.

Guess I coulda just bought a V8, I like the sleeper idea.

You can turbocharge a v6 np. A few people have done it. Get forged guts and you'll be fine. I wouldn't suggest running over 15psi though.

Justin over at V6power put a TT setup on his and ran a 11.9 on stock internals, no forged at all. Don't know how long it would've held up since I think I read he's doing something else with the engine now. But hey go JY turbo if you can, no good kits yet from what I know.
