I'm thinking about buying a 2002 mustang for my son who will be driving soon. Car looks good and sounds great, but when test driving it I heard a noise coming from the trunk area. Long store short, when i shake a rear tire there seems to be excessive slack and noise in the rear axle. I pulled RR tire off and tried to pull the axle out but it wouldn't budge. Car has a v6 with automatic trans.

Any and all thoughts appreciated.

a few mm of play when pushing and pulling the tire is normal. Check the rear suspension?
