Ok so I've heard alot people talking about modifying a 03-04 mach shaker hood scoop to fit a 87-93 5.0 for the past few years.

So what I'm wandering is does anyone know of someone who was able to do it? And if so do you have pics?

I know alot of people dont think it would look right on a fox and if your just gonna bash on me for asking please keep your comments to yourself.

-Thanks

I am interested as well. I have seen the Banshee shaker setup, but it is out of proportion. I think The 03-04 setup would look good.

A friend bought a wrecked 03 Mach 1 and was planning to use the shaker setup on his T-Bird. Of course it would require a bit of fiberglass work:

I've always wanted to do that, but I can't see it happening for less than a grand or two $$. I'm curious to see where this thread goes...

No, he hasn't really done anything else to it. He's ended up going a different direction with his engine, probably 351 instead of a 5.4 modular, which was the reason he needed the extra hood room. I just asked, and he might be interested in selling it, for the right price. His screen name is rxracer if you are interested.

I bet a Cervini's small cowl induction, or Cobra R hood could be modified and used with the factory shaker, with other fabrication for a clean set up. Or if you have the money to start with new parts

It can be done. I did it

It can be done, It's a fair bit of modifying but nothing a normal person can't do. I'll post a pic or two and if anyone is interested i can get back and list more details.

Stumbled upon this by accident the other day:

Looks pretty good with the stock hood.

ssnanney-that doesn't look too bad, but the slope of the hood is really weird, i've never seen a fox-body hood slope quite like that

raceoholic330-the only problem with the Banshee (as referred to earlier) is that it's not quite agressive enough for the fox, it just looks to small (which you can't really tell from the photo's that the magazine took, and probably on-purpose too).

3" cobra R hood

The slope of the hood comes from the fact that it is a 3" cobra R bolt on. Had to be at least this tall. I tried a 2.5" cowl and it wouldnt clear the air inlet tube that runs from the shaker to the air box/filter assy. The shaker is a aftermarket CDC setup for I believe a 98'ish 4.6L. I got it off ebay, contacted CDC and got the missing parts and dove in. It looks good in person, Stripes are a take it or leave it kind of thing. It is fully functional and definitely unique.
