Hello,

I am new to posting. I have a '03 GT, automatic. I would like to gain some speed. I have read the message board and surfed ebay for parts, but basically I am confused. In reference to buying new parts/kits, where should I start? I am not rich, so I would like to make modifications from paycheck to paycheck.

You're probably going to hear the following just for starters:

Gears
Underdrive Pulley's
Timing Adjuster
Upper Intake Plenum/throttle body

All of which are worthwhile, in my opinion.

As for where to buy your parts, there are a ton of options. I'd recommend picking up a copy of Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords - you'll see ads that direct you to websites. Also, do a Google search for Mustang parts.

Thanks for the quick and helpful reply. I want to make it race competitive. Here in Wichita Falls, TX, we have a 1/8 track and I would like to represent the Mustang community well. I feel the need for speed! I notice you are from the DFW area. Is there a good speed store that you go to?

Like a lot of individuals will say GEARS, GEARS, GEARS. Don't fear the gear! 4:10's to be exact with an automatic. After that let everyone know what you are looking towards and like scalder said people hear will like to help you out just give a direction towards what you want.

Gears are a good choice, however id suggest waiting to do that and the dyno tune last. Do the basic exaust stuff (catback, midpipe, headers) along with the other little stuff and then get gears and a dyno tune. You will need to get a chip (or programmer) anyway when you get your gears so why pay for it twice? I bought a programmer and eventually got my car dynoed only to realize i need a prof tune to get the most out of my set up

With an auto I wouldn't get anything less than 4.10s, 4.30s if staying NA. A torque converter would be my next mod. You would benefit quite a bit from it.

I don't agree with this. I have an 03GT-auto, first couple things I did was catback/xpipe.. no huge power gain/torque.

I'd agree with some of the others, gears will make a difference you'll feel.
