2005 Mustang order status

Your car has NOT been built yet. I just checked. The info was given to the people who schedule cars but that's it. A build date has been given and should be within the next 10 days.
Thanks Dave
I appreciate you checking on my car and letting me know what's going on.
When I talked to my dealer on Thursday when he gave me the DORA and VIN number he said it had been submitted to plant and had a build date of 10/27 so I wanted to see if that information was correct, and obviously it wasn't (at least about the build date anyway).

You mentioned that I have a scheduled build date (which I assume is the week it will be built), does this mean the Temp Delay has been lifted or is that still in place?

Are you able to see what the reason for delay is (was)?
When I talked to Ford on Friday they didn't know what the reason for delay.

Thanks again

Here is my vin#1ZVFT82H355123236.I ordered it on Oct. 16 and called yesterday the 1 800#; they could not give me any specific info. They said that they had the order and that was it. I hope they deliver before Dec. 15.
Can someone please help me find out what's going on?!?!?!?

I'll have to find out what my VIN is. I ordered on 9/21. My dealer didn't have any info about a ship date when I called around 10/20. I didn't know that he would have a VIN though that could be used to track the order.

Though, I got an automatic GT with cloth interior and only the internal options pack and I heard that they were prioritizing leather seats.

Hello Dave
Could you do me a favor and check my order status again?
What I'm concerned about is the posts that talk about Ford being out of parts for 'MY COLOR' and may result in a six month to one year delay on cars that was ordered with that option, and since I ordered that option I'm concerned that my car may be affected.

I called my dealer a few minutes ago and told him that my car is on a TEMP HOLD and he tried to tell me that the car had a build date of 10/29 so it's being built (according to him)...buy we know that the dealer was wrong since you checked for me last week and said that I have a build date assigned within 10 days.

I appreciate your help in this matter

This is how it works:

1. Order is placed.
2. Vin is serialized.
3. Decision is made based on parts, plant mix, etc on what week the car will be made.
4. Then it goes to what day it will be made.
5. Then it decides when during the day the car will be run.
6. Then the car is produced.
7. Then the car is brought out to the train/convoy yard.
8. Then it is shipped to you.

You need to remember that the plant has mix issues. Suppliers may not be able to keep up with demand. Also, there are jobs on the line that just can't be done if there is a certain mix of cars. Like say they run all manual transmission V8s with the interior package. On some jobs on the line people will be overloaded with work so when they schedule jobs to be built they try to space out the constraints on the plant to keep it running. So as an example, if everyone ordered V8s with the interior package and it is a constraint to the plant they may run V6 autos inbetween to keep the line running, and inturn people who ordered something that isn't in high demand may get their car before someone who wants a constraint vehicle because it had to be made.

Ok, so the one I ordered on 9/21 should have a complete VIN? I called my dealer today and he said he only had the first 8 and wouldn't have the rest til it was about to be built. Since mine is on hold for parts (My Color), that might be a while.

Could this be true or does he really have access to the full vin?

Dude, either someone's pulling your chain or someone's pulling mine...I ordered on Oct.22 and according to Ford Motor Company in Michigan Customer service AND My Dealer, my car is built and will be shipped and ready for pickup by the end of next week or beginning of the following! Ford in Michigan says the car is in "Maintainence" which is described as "being given a final once over inspection"-this was Wednsday. My car HAS the IUP w/ My Color Option! Now, I PM'd KTP my VIN # and he replied with "My car is not scheduled yet", so I don't know who to believe!!! Seems like alot of chains and alot of chain-yankers  My advice to ANYONE who ordered a Mustang is to keep in contact 2x a week with the dealer and 2x a week with Ford Motor co.(I got the 1800# on the Ford website under "contact us". YOU HAVE GOT TO GET THAT VIN# AND YOU SHOULD HAVE IT BY NOW!!!!! I have no basis, but I personally think the dealer has EVERYTHING to do with how efficiently Ford Motor Co. processes your order...BE THE SQUEAKY WHEEL AND CALL THE DEALER UNTIL YOU ARE SATISFIED WITH THEIR RESPONSE.

Called today and the DORA status is "Produced" The delivery date is between 11/17 and 11/24. That means I have 1 month to modify it and get it to my wife for Christmas. Yippie!

A dealer down in florida told me that they are having unconfirmed trouble building the GT 4.6L eng's, they are still producing the V-6 all out, but production halted a couple weeks ago on the GT's for some reason..... I have heard this form 2 sources....

To those who are waiting

I finally got my Lime GT yesterday, and also found out why some cars are being delayed. My dealer kept all the prep. sheets, stickers, and plastic that normally gets pitched when they prep a new car. As I was going thru the paperwork I found a small card that read "this car was pulled at random from the line for Q.C. and driveability/road testing" it then had a space where a Ford employee filled out the miles of testing done (27). When my dealer checked on this he said that as many as 1 in 25 G.T.'s may be pulled for this testing in the first production run, and that it could delay delivery by as much as 10 days(hence my wait! :( ) . Just thought I'd pass it on to anyone who may still be waiting.
P.S.- IT WAS WORTH THE WAIT!!!

Ok that is total BS. What that means is someone who works at the plant like a production superintendent, plant manager...whoever....took that car home one night. They took it home and returned the next day and it was shipped out as long as they did not find any issues with the car. It does not delay it by 10 days.

Dealers are so f-ing stupid!
