2007/2008 NHL thread

damn wtf is up with my senators, dropping 5 games in a row  hopefully they take care of the rangers on saturday, but its a damn afternoon game, cause heaven forbid "Hockey Night in Toron"......oh wait i mean "Hockey Night in Canada" show something other than a damn maple leafs game

hows everyones teams doin? my sens finnally decided to win again, i was getting very frustrated watching them play.

i mentioned before my "home" team is and AHL team (Manitoba moose) and their parent club is the canucks. 2 guys got called up for their first NHL game ever and both got a goal and an assist int heir first game.... i love watching young guys come up through the system. they will probably be sent back down once Vancouver has less injured players.

found it funny they needed to use all the same cooling stuff that they use in an indoor rink to keep the ice. see if they brought a team back to winnipeg they would only have to worry about it being to cold and the ice being brittle :D

HAHA - true. We were sitting above freezing for a couple days while they constructed the rink, so they had to play it safe. We were good today though - lake effect snow and all!

Hockey belongs in Canada. Its a dame shame that money dictates this great sport to where teams from where the game is best loved , Canada and northern America are taken away.

I opine that is the reason for it's decline. It's become a sport of the elites, ie the ones that can afford indoor rinks, equipment, and such. Most anyone can afford a ball and glove, or a ball and hoop and garage to hang it on. Or a football to throw around in the yard or a couple of clubs and a bucket of balls from the local driving range. Hardly anyone has pond frozen over for the kids in winter anymore.

thats whats great about here.... within 15 mins of my house there are about 10 outdoor rinks that are free to use and most have a community club attached thats open so you can go change/warm up, all you need is skates, stick and a puck. some rinks even have a zamboni that cleans the ice every night
