2010 V6 Wheels?

Can I put the 2011 5 spoke 19 inch GT rims on my 2010 V6 mustang? I just went to ford and they said i couldnt because 19inch rims were not available for that model and the computer/speedometer would not be able to be calibrated. Is this true? Thanks

It's false. You will need an aftermarket tuner to teach your computer the new wheel size, and you'll need to change over your TPMS, but that would be no different than throwing an aftermarket set of 20s which everyone around here does. Honestly though, why dress up a v6? Save the money and get a GT.

For me a v6 was all I could get at the time (based on insurance, costs, and other things) and I've been able to modify it myself to my liking and save with gas some. Each car has their own benefits depending on the person

Hmmmm....lets see... i shouldnt spend $1100 for GT wheels. I should spend another $20,000 and get a GT??? that sounds right....

you only have to recalibrate if your new tire diameter exceeds or less than your current tire diameter.

a 17" wheel will have a taller sidewall. most tire/wheel combos are around the same size.

Ah, so you're just a trouble starting troll eh? 5 posts and picking a fight... All I can say is if you don't have the cash to get a GT aka a real car, how can you justify the cost of beautifying a V6? I mean, unless you're a show queen who doesn't care much for performance, then I get it, but otherwise, why not wait until you have a better base platform? IMO hooking up a V6 is akin to everything that defines RICE.... I'm not fast but I sure try to look like it, as proven by your "I'll just get GT wheels and look like it" statement.

And Makoto, as usual, you are wrong. Every manufacturer lists the revs/mile for their tire sizes and they differ even within the same tire size. On top of that, if he goes 19, it won't be the same rev/mile as an OEM 17 inch wheel. It may be close, but "close" is HACK. Do it right, recalibrate, and call it a day.

A question about tires becomes a fight about GT vs V6? Why bother? I don't believe he started the conversation to insult Mustang GTs. His choice of car was attack and then you further attack him when get gets defensive about it? Why bother answering?

Galaxius.... nice move, nothing wrong at all with the 6. I'm adding parts piece by piece. As far as Astro.... you've got alot of mods to yours, why dress up a GT.... save money and buy a Shelby!

+1. Damn, Astro, not every Mustang enthusiast needs to have a V8 model to feel the need to modify and customize their pony. Lighten up on the guy and welcome him into our community instead of calling him a troll.

Nobody need apolgize for having a V-6 if it is a 2011 or newer. I test-drove both on Saturday morning; while the 5.0 was awesome so is the new V-6 in its own right. Both mighty fine engines...

Maybe the nastiness from the Astro guy is knowing his 2010 GT has less power than the new V-6 - maybe?!

Let's all be civilized here. I will say though that I'm tired of uninformed people acting like they know everything. If you're not positive about something you can use a phrase like, "I believe" or "I think." Let me practice putting it together for everyone here: The 2010 GT is faster and does have more power than a 2011 V6. I believe the GT has 315hp and 325trq, the 2011 V6s have 305hp and 280trq. As a happy and proud 2010 GT owner, I think many of us are just tired of all the new V6 owners telling us how fast their cars are all the time. I'm glad there are options, and that the slowest one is a good performer now, but stop acting like we are jealous of your new ride. Happy for you, YES. Jealous, NO.

Once someone has their car I say let them do whatever they want to it. I see lots of stuff people do that I don't understand or like, but it's their car. If no one's allowed to change stuff there would never be any forums like this for each of us to help and harass one another.

to the OP, the 19s will be fine, but depending on the tires, you may want to recalibrate your speedo. 1010 Tires has a nice calculator showing differences in wheel/tire size. check it out and see if you can live with the speed difference.

Thanks everyone. I have resisted replying because... well... i had nothing nice to say. But anyway, I've moved on from astro's comment. So thanks for all the advice. I got my new wheels on friday and got them installed. I went with the "brembo" package wheels with the 255 40/19 and HOLY COW WHAT A DIFFERENCE!! the looks, the handling!! I could not be happier with my choice! Also, it appears i dont need to recalc my speedometer since the new tires are less than .5% different. Thanks again everyone.

Looks nice! Just worked with a guy with a 2011 V6 just like it. Now just needs lowered a bit. The bigger the wheel the weirder that wheel gap looks. I'm planning on lowering the rear of mine and inch to even out the front and rear.

No plans for anything soon, but eventually I want to add dual exhaust. Maybe CAI (if its cheap)
