2011 GT Shifting Issue

I have seen some install/reviews on other forums and the overall reception is very positive.

I understand why Ford installed the shifter remotely like they did to cut down on vibration, noise, increased comfort etc., but I want my Trans. to last for a while.

The Steeda bushing helped with the "slack" in the shifts, but you can still tell it has those "remote mount" issues.

Report from the track.....Bracket works as advertised! Now the problem is the clutch lockout at high rpm....really frustrating the heck out of me. Guess I had better start saving for a clutch upgrade.

I just finished installing the Blowfish Shifter Bracket today.

Took way longer than it should have due to my clearance issues, but the initial results are very promising! I went for a short test drive and shifting was MUCH improved, and this is even in comparison to the Barton two post shifter bracket.

Shifting into first after stopping at a stop sign was effortless. The over all feeling while shifting is so smooth and precise now, it's hard to describe.

I'll post more after I've driven a week or so.

Ok, I'm a believer in this bracket! It should have been a stock part on the mustang.

I can actually shift from first to second WHILE making a left hand turn with no grind!

1st to 2nd grind - gone
2nd to 3rd nibble - gone
trouble getting into first after making a complete stop - gone
overall shifting feel - 100% improvment

This thing is magic. I HIGHLY recommend it. Shifting is SMOOTH and SOLID.

And this is going from a Barton Two Post shifter bracket to the Blowfish bracket.

Cold Trans shifting - 95% cured and nearly free.

I have a 2012 GT 5.0 6 speed, 33,000 miles and cold shifting problem. Found a Ford TSB outlining an improvement, went to my Ford dealer, explained the situation, showed them the TSB and they looked it up and found the fluid and labor was covered under the 5 year, 50k warranty.

3 quarts of Ford dual clutch fluid, a tube of Ford XT- 18 additive (i had to pay for that, $23) and out the door. Temps here have been in the mid 30's. After start up, waiting for a minute to get the fluids running and the notcheness is gone.

I had brought this problem up several times before but a new tech told me at his prior job, the fluid and additive worked wonders.

Did he happen to say if this fluid comes default in the 13-14 models? Is this something that is specific to the 11-12 models?

The TSB, 11-11-1 is for cars built before 8/15/11 and apply to 2011-2012.

That said, ive read elsewhere that some newer trans built after that date have benefited from an oil change, but not specifically Fords Dual Clutch oil plus additive. If after doing all of the new shifters, bushings etc still leaves you with the same problem, possibly an oil plus additive change with Fords product or Redline etc would be the next step.

Does anyone know if this is something that's being reported in the 2014 as well? I did a search and didn't turn up much.

My car is having some similar issues. I took it in to the dealer who told me they couldn't duplicate the concern. I put a Steeda Tri-Ax on this past weekend along with their replacement bracket and noticed some gear whine today along with the same notchy 1-2 and 2-3 shift clunk. It was in the 20's today, and it got a little better when it heated up, but I'm still not convinced I have a problematic transmission. I appreciate any thoughts...

Yes, the problem still exists in the 2014's.

If you're referring to this bracket: http://www.steeda.com/steeda-2011-mustang-short-throw-shifter-kit-555-7313/ ....it's not going to help, much.

Not sure you can get away from the notchy shifting with cold fluid....it's just the nature of the beast. The 2 to 3 clunk comes from the stock two piece driveshaft. If you install an aluminum driveshaft the 2 to 3 clunk will disappear.

Thanks Blitz. Blowfish bracket is ordered and on the way....The Tri_Ax did help a lot, but after further research this looks to be the ticket. Can't wait to install it.
