Thats right, I took my 2012 gt to the track for a little 1/8th mile fun and she didn't disappoint, but i did. She had 560 miles on her 6spd manual and 3.31 gears out back. Ambient temp was in the lower 70's upper 60's.
My best mph was 85.83 and my best time was an abyssal 8.989. 60's are as you'd expect for that time 2.4xx. Additionally I just couldn't get 2nd to hook and 3rd took a big wet bite too. I think the cold was killing the track. All in all I'm super pleased with my baby. I can't wait to let the motor settle into the block and see if those mph numbers will come up a tick or two... getting some traction in the first 2 gears would be nice too. Oh Yeah! Talk about wheel hop! Best numbers were with the traction control ON.

Get some lower control arms to help with the wheel hop. That should be a decent start in reducing it.

Thanks for the tip! I'm going to be real selective with what mods I do to the car. I want to keep it a long time and I would like to retain the stock charcteristics of the vehicle. I think I'm going to limit myself to factory options only.

Yeah, the wheel hop is a real problem.

These control arms eliminate the wheel hop and improve the handling tremendously:

With these control arms and some practice, you'll be around 2.00 60', closer to mid-8s in the eighth. With sticky tires it'll drop even more than that!
