My new Ecoboost with 3000 miles has developed a subtle rear end clunking noise that only happens after backing up, shifting into drive and then turning sharply left. It does not seem to occur while turning right. I turned off traction control and it appears not to happen then. Anyone else have a similar experience?

Does your EcoBoost have the Performance Package? If so, the Torsen differential may exhibit a pop/clunk sound during sharp corners at low speed. From what I gather it's completely normal.

If you don't have the performance package, I would take it to Ford and try and replicate the problem with a Tech and see what they say.

My GT with PP does the same thing. This is a good watch explaining the operation of the Torsen Diff.

I do not have the performance package. Do I still have a Torsen diff?

I don't think so. Don't quote me but I thought anything other than PP got an open diff " one wheel peel".

I think everything non PP has a standard limited slip. Open diffs are soooo bad. Had one on my 2005 v6, hated it!
