2015 Ford Mustang – Getting Closer!

Wow. We really are getting close to this Ford Mustang redesign, 50th Anniversary thing, FINALLY. It’s pretty much November now, and with the newsstands filling up with magazines aplenty for the year-end and Holiday season, we can be sure of one thing—we shall be seeing a LOT of the 2015 Mustang to-be. The upcoming issue of Car and Driver has a sizeable spread and loads of intelligence laid down on what everyone has been kicking around the water cooler, sandbox, and parts counter most of this year.







So, there are a few things we can all finally (maybe?) lay to rest:

• The 2015 Mustang is pretty much getting an IRS (independent rear suspension) configuration.
• The 2015 Mustang will keep its power plant offerings as they are…for now.
• The 2015 Mustang will be a global platform. (What’s this mean? GOOD things, that’s what.)
• The 2015 Mustang will keep many of the Ford Evos concept’s styling cues, but won’t go “too Euro” on the faithful followers in the USA.
• The 2015 Mustang will be the first one ever to sport the MyFord Touch screen in the center stack.
• The 2015 Mustang will kick off some serious R&D for transmissions, including a reported 10-speed auto project, jointly designed with GM.
• The 2015 Mustang “Coyote” 5.0 is said to be bolstered to an output of 500hp.
• The 2015 Mustang is going to get a turbocharged, direct-injection 2.3-liter 4-cylinder engine offering, just above the bubble sheet, over the base V6.
• The 2015 Mustang may also receive the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 as an engine option, as is found in the current Taurus SHO. 400hp, anyone?
• The 2015 Mustang opens the door up through the 2017 models, with performance AND economic improvements all the way, with the “Trinity” 5.8-liter V8, pumping out over 660hp.
