Just got a new car last night and when I went to fill it up the gas needle only went to half tank. Why is it doing this? The pump says I pumped 14 gallons and the range on the car computer is saying 147 miles left until empty. What is wrong?

It has to be the gas tank meter sensor is bad( the one that goes inside the tank)... the tank capacity is 16 gls It seems yours was empty.
Take it back to where you bought it tomorrow, that is still under warranty. Good luck!
