Okay, the v6 is 3.8 litres, and 232 cubic inches? And the 4.6 is 282 or so, but 3.8/232 doesn't equale 4.6/282, or even if you flip the fractions, they don't equal. I tried looking for a converter on google, but the site kept screwing up, so i pose the question to you guys.

the 4.6 is actually a 281
but you multiply the liters by someting around 60.5 or divide the cid by 60.5, something around there, not sure on the exact number though

1 inch = 25.4mm.

So 1 cubic inch (1inch^3) = 25.4mm x 25.4mm x 25.4mm = 16387mm^3 = 16.387cm^3

16.387cm^3 = 0.016387 Liters.

So 232 cubic inches = 232 x 0.016387 = 3.801 Liters
Or 281 cubic inches = 281 x 0.016387 = 4.605 Liters

It's just rounding error. Remember that a "4.6L" engine can be anywhere from 4.55L to 4.64L. Same works the other way around too - a 232ci engine could really be 231.5, or 232.4.

Wow, I don't know what's wrong with me, it's probably the 5 finals in 3 days I've had to deal with. Thanks. When you do 3.8/232 and 4.6/281 you get a close number to the conversion number because the displacement is not exactly 3.8 or 4.6. Thanks again.

remember that a milliliter = one cubic centimeter

there are .0610237 CCs in a CI

3.8L= 3800ml=3800cc*0.0610237=231.89ci

yes this is the correct way to do the conversion. i just learned how to do it in auto tech class lol. you can also figure it out if you know the bore and stroke but i dont know how many people actually know that for their car.
