Any drag racers out there running 26" tall rear tires? I was working on the Thundersnake tonight, and I'm a little concerned with how the rear of the wheel opening comes down behind the tire. It looks as if on a hard launch, it might come down on the tire. Anyone running some 26" slicks/DOTs care to comment on it?

Maybe i can offer some help, i have run a few different 26" slicks.
I use a 15x7 weld drag lite 3.5 rear spacing.

The goodyear Eagles 26x8x15 has the better fit and 60' time but very shallow holes for wear.

In Micky's the ET streets 26x10.5 with side wall, they did rub when the car launched.

I had my springs get soft on me, so i had new 1s made up.

The set i use now and like alot is the Hoosier drag slick 26x9 with no rubbing and they also make a DOT tire, they are called quick times or some thing like that in the same size.

Steve, thanks for the info. I am running the Hoosier 26x11.5 QTP. The sidewall area is not what I was asking about though. My concern is the rear edge of the wheel opening, as it comes down and passes the tread area. Have you had any sign that part hitting the tire?
