275's to big?

will it stick out of the body and look goofy? i want about that size but i dont want it sticking out of the body? i hope to hell not cuz i need traction and 275's are about as big as i can go without serious complications

I run a 275/50/15 bfg dr on 15x8 welds with a 5.5 backspacing. Tires do not stick out at all. Had to remove quad shocks and "massage" inner fenders. Since then I have just added a 1/4 spacer (I have 3inch studs, would not recomend with stock studs) and they still dont really stick out any.

I'm running 275/40/17 's on 17x8 ROH rims with 5.5 in backspacing. There's no clearance problem at all on my car but it seems like every car is different cause they don't fit on my buddies LX. Oh I have an 88 LX coupe with the quads still in the stock spot. The best thing is if you can get your hands on a set that size give them a trial fit then you'll know for sure....

Mine are 275s on the back with a 1/4" spacer and they don't stick out, they come out pretty flush with the well actually!

I run 275/50/15 BFG Dr's on 15x7 10holes (only for racing) They fit pretty good, had to flip the quad shocks and message some sheet metal inside the tires but they fit up in there.

I wouldn't be runnin a 275/50 on a 7 inch rim..that's a 10 inch tread tire. That's quite a bit of bulge

I dont think your even suppose to run 275s on an 8 inch rim

i think you're only supposed to go 1 inch over rim size - I read that on here anyway. 1 inch = 25.4mm, so 275/25.4=10.8 subtract 1 for the inch greater tire and you have a 10-inch rim for 275's. If that's correct though, the stock 225's should be on an 8 inch rim, so who knows? I actually searched google for an actual professionally-recommended formula for this last night and couldn't find one - all I found out was that you want the diameter to be the same - or very close to - stock.

I know many people on here have tires that - according to the above formula - are too big, but I'm not sure of the consequences...

They will not stick out from the fenders as long as you get the proper backspacing. I don't have a picture of an LX with 275's on but here is a picture of my 88 GT with Cobra R's and you can still see the clearence from the fender lip.

Well are you going to get new rims for the rear? Or do you plan on running the stock 10 holes?

no im getting rid of 10 holes, dont have enough money for 5 lug tho, i was interested in polished cobras or the chrome, or just welds ......

Well if you get Cobra's in 17X9 then get the 5.95 inch backspacing for your stock axles.

If you order a 9 inch wheel then you will need a backspacing of 5.95 inches on that wheel for it to work on your car.
